Lightbulb WEVO "semi solid" engine mounts - sweet!

Just thought you guys might be interested in this replacement option for failed engine mounts - the WEVO (Windrush Evolution) SS (semi-solid) engine mounts for the 964. They are really nicely made - look pretty eh?!

The benefits I see so far:
light weight - weigh much less than stock parts (whether that matters, who knows! )
no metal-to-metal contact so should have less vibration vs. solid mounts
economical - cost almost half as much as OE replacements and/or RS mounts - does cost slightly more than solid mounts
provide more stiffness over RS mounts and OE mounts (per WEVO's findings).
received them in 1 day after ordering for a measley $6 shipping charge

Engine is not yet in the car (but it's clean and ready to go!!!), but I look forward to seeing if this helps me NOT miss that shift from 5th to second gear at Fontana's turn 3!!! It should, since the right mount was shot to begin with!

Looks like a nice piece, but what keeps the rubber (urethane?) bushing from being squashed when torqued? Is there an inner sleeve that I cannot see in the picture?

Wow, those look like a great compromise between solids and the goo filled factory mounts. Are you still going to weld in supports to beef up the mounts?

Don't forget to do this....especially easy with the engine out.

Chris - looks like the rubber gets smashed - it's pretty hard stuff. I'll take a pic once it's all together - there is one more huge washer that goes on the underside between the engine carrier and the mount...

Sorry Garrett, you're right, I did miss that one! Good work! By the way, where did you get your new mounts? From WEVO's website?

Hey Brian, I called Windrush at 650 595-5772 and Tracey helped me out - their service was excellent, and so fast! I thought it would take several weeks for them to make them, but they've got them in stock!

I hear good things about these mounts, good for street and track.

HOLY CRAP-HOO!!

I just got off the phone with WEVO, I guess they aren't advertising the 964 engine mounts anywhere but have released them awhile back...they say Pelican and Smart Racing sells them...but their sites do not list them either.

Garrett, were the mounts about $140 EACH?? I was excited when I thought I would get engine mounts for the advertised $79.95 but that's for the 1976-1989 911s.

I'll probably still get them, but that put a slow to my roll when I was on the phone with WEVO. It's "tight times" amidst my current project here at the 'ol Curtis shop.

Yep... BUT it is cheaper than going with a stock replacement. And in my case, I got two new (and better for my race car) engine mounts for less than it would have cost for 1 new replacement for the broken one

It all adds up... that's the joy of these things, right

Yeah, I knew it...here I was looking at the WEVO site, drueling over that kick-**** looking gold annodized semi-solid mount for $79.95...and thought it couldn't be true.

The 964 is just an expensive animal when compared to others. UGH.

I'll come off my goldmine and order a pair, may wait a day though, as the excitement is a bit muddled by a $120 price difference...I can be tight at times.

Garrett: You should be embarassed to post a photo with that rusty, ugly tin on the engine.

My hanger fix was a bit more subdued than yours...

Mine was seriously bent on one side and looked about ready to fail (cracking on the surface). A friend had one break on his 993 as he was zooming down the front straight at the track. I know a number of others out here have seen theirs bent and have had them fixed like mine. It also seems that many of folk out here that look at their motor mounts for cars with reasonable mileage (50k or more) see the mounts are bad.
