Question 964 Manual on CD ROM

There are 2 of these for sale on Ebay right now.

Is this an Original Porsche item or some enthusiast's way to make some extra $$$ (I can see someone scannig all those pages for some $$)?

Its supposedly all 7 volumes in Adobe format and beats $350 for the paper version as it appears the auction will close under $100. Anyone familiar with this???

Thanks!

I own a copy of the CD and I find it to be less useful than the folders. Because it is in electronic format and easy to produce, Porsche charges less.

The CD/ROM does contain all the information as the factory manuals - it's just in Adobe format. Since I have the factory manual for the C2 Turbo, I ended up just printing out the 964 volumes and appending them to the notebook.

Now...I am unable to answer the question about authenticity. My copy looks very official and has all the right markings, but The microfiche sell for much less than the paper versions and less than the CD/ROM so maybe all this makes perfect sense. The only doubt I have is that I have never seen the CD/ROM for sale anywhere except eBay.

To my knowledge, Porsche only offers it's factory manuals in paper with vinyl binders and microfiche.

Chris,
This selling has duplicated copyrighted material and is offering it for sale. Basically, he has scanned in the manuals and put them on a CD. What I can't believe is that he actually admits it! The text of the auction states that he has no right to duplicate the manuals... It's up to you if you want to support his illegal activities, but my recommendation apart from the ethics of the issue is that the manauls, in any form, are not worth $100. I get much better advice, knowledge, and information from the people on this message board!

Jeff:

There is one seller on eBay that is obviously selling these discs as copies, but look at this one (similar to mine)which is also for sale. It certainly looks authentic enough.

Guys,
as already has been mentioned, Porsche have never released the 964 manual on CD-Rom. The same deal was being attempted on ebay in Germany not just with cd-rom manuals but also parts catalogues. There were even copies of the whole manual trying to be auctioned. Ebay shut all these people down with I am sure advice fro PAG. Then the seller started offering these things privately to all the bidders. Looks like he has found a distributor in the USA. I know the official manuals are incomplete. When you purchase these cd-roms you are purchasing something even less reliable.
Ciao,
Adrian

After reading some of these posts, I went back and went through some of the sections of the manual on CD. I can confirm there are sections missing - even from the one CD that looks so official.

Best advice is to invest in the real thing - you get what you pay for.

I have a microfiche reader with the 89-91 microfiche which I will sell for $80.00 plus shipping. The microfiche reader is almost new as are the films. The reader is portable and can be used of 115 volts ac or 12dc. Digital pictures are available.

It’s nice having the manuals but procedures that one would think would be in detail are vague or not even there and other procedures are in ridiculous detail. This site answers most of my questions. By the way I fixed the shifter problem and if anyone has any questions about of the lower shifting unit of the C-2 manual trans, I know it now in vivid detail. The manual was vague in this area and Brumos sold me the wrong part even after I pointing out the exact pictured part in the manual I needed. Typical of Jacksonville Brumos. In the end all was well.
