I need to replace the two straps (straps that pull one of the support bars back into place when folding) in the cabriolet top and also need to replace the liner. I find nothing in the workshop manuals to tackle this job.
Has anybody done this that can shed some light as to how easy/difficult this might be?
Can it be done without disturbing the rest of the top and the mechanism? Any help, as always, is greatly appreciated.

This also interests me - my cab top is in OK condition and the rear window was replaced by the PO and is in good condition but my liner, well suffice to say, it ain't there any more!
Looks like (from posts on the 911 board) that replacing the liner is not easy and should be left to an upholstery shop!

Hi Guys
Well most of the posts i have read re fixing the cab top ie. motors/gears have said its too hard and take it to a dealer.
When you take the time to examine it yourself you realise its a simple system.
I wonder if this is true with the liner. It is attached at the front of the hood and above the rear window. Surely there must be a way of getting to it without taking the whole hood off.
Regards

I recently removed my headliner, it was starting to look real crappy. The headliner is only attached at the front and rear, I think underneath the vinyl covered trim pieces that are screwed on. There also 2 thread loops that hold the sides to the top itself and they should be easy to replace with a needle and thread. I removed my headliner by tearing it along the front and back under the trim pieces. I have seen the headliner for sale online at a few places so it should be replaceable my itself. I may tackle it this winter.

To all Cab owners, please take it to a specialist. I just learned the hard way. I readjusted and regreased my gears for my top. My sensors were not adjusted properly. Subsequently the gears kept of turning and ripped out the transmission for the top. $1500 lesson! Good luck!
Hi Guys
not sure if anyone is still interested, just finished re fixing my cab transmission (gears) to the body at the weekend.
Took all the parts out except the motors, the worm drives are the same type as a speedo cable not very difficult. Cleaned all gears re greased put it all back together, moved hood into down position slowly and adjusted the micro switches to stop the motors running.
If you take your time to understand what is happening, it is quite a simple proceedure, although fiddly and time consuming. My task was made complicated because i ahd to put new anchor points in the body for the gears.
Cheers
