Default OT: lost Wheel lock

Somehow I managed to loose one of my wheel locks when I swapped out to my turbo twist wheels a few weeks ago. I have torn the garage apart looking for it. Does anybody have a set laying around gathering dust they would like to sell? I guess it was a senior moment

I went to my OPC for mine, they were pretty sweet finding the right one with the right tools, cost escapes me now, but I believe there are about 40 differing sorts.

yea I checked there. $73 with PCA discount. Seems like to them they are made of gold like most all dealer parts now. I have found other places 1/2 that price so will probably end up mail ordering. Just thought I would check here first.

Get a normal lug nut and do without on that one wheel... thieves have to look closely to determine the available wheel..

After watching a mechanic take off a locking lug nut like it didn't need a key... I never used them again. If someone wants your wheels... They will get them. The only thing needed is a slightly smaller socket hammered over the lug... Then just remove it. This generally destroys the socket and the lug nut... But for the price of 4 sockets a thief can get 4 wheels.

Just my opinion.

When I got my car a few months ago, I did not get the key for the locking lug nuts from the PO. Took me 10 minutes to get the locking lug nuts off and did no damage to the nuts.

No, I did not bother to put the locking ones back on as I could see their obvious value.....

yea I figured it wouldnt be worth the cost. I have been running with regular lug so guess I will keep it that way. One wheel wont do someone much good anyways.

they are even easier to pick, I agree they are not needed unless your trying to preserve the car as "all original"

Lost one myself a couple years ago, and like you said, it was gonna cost me about 75 to replace it. My deductable is only 100 for comprehensive so I figure if someone stole my wheels I'ld rather spend the hundred on new wheels and tires V/S one new lugnut.

Still waiting and the wheels are still there.
