Default Is my current setup good enough???

Hi All,

I decided to drive my 95 325i today for a change, Wow the ride feels really good and comfortable, not bumpy at all, just firm and alot tighter than my 964.

Here's the mods i've done to it;
5 BMW 325I (18" Wheels, Bilstein PSS9 susp, Cold Air intake, Headers, B&B Tri flow Cat back exhast, Dinan Chip).

Currently, on my 964 I have Eibach Progressive Springs with Koni (Yellows) Adjustable shocks, but it doesn't feel as tight/nimble as the Bimmer.

For adjusting the shocks, currently have the BMW on med settings, and my 964 on meds on the fronts and a little stiffer on the rear.

Is my current setup good enough?

Is there a better setup?

Happy Thanksgiving to All !!!

Like Christer said, what are you willing to spend? Better to keep in mind just what do you want the car to do. IE, Drivers Ed, Club Racing, just having fun on your favorite twisties??

There are better set ups, but the question is better at what? RS or Supercup set up will be sharper than the PSS9s but don't expect much in the way of ride comfort and the handling on poor surfaces will deteriorate.
If you uprate the springs, go linear and put the Konis on full hardness it'll be sharper.

I do attend events with POC at the Streets of Willow.

Tony- Uprate the springs? The Eibach Progressives are on right now, what do you recommend changing to?

Anyone ever tried Faulkner 400F/600R springs on a 964 C2?

Thx

Here's a list of spring rates lifted from Joey Bagodonuts

Here's some more info gathered over the years.

Eibach 964 Pro-kit springs
Front 82.6-250 lbs/inch
Rear 188-256 lbs/inch

H&R 964 springs
Front 190-255 lbs/inch
Rear 220-265 lbs/inch

H&R 965 (Turbo) springs
Front 250-270 lbs/inch
Rear 265-285 lbs/inch

H&R 964 Coil-over
Front 250-285 lbs/inch
Rear 265-285 lbs/inch

H&R 964 Super Cup
Front 455 lbs/inch
Rear 685 lbs/inch

Porsche Carrera RS springs
Front 250-308 lbs/inch
Rear 375-508 lbs/inch

Personally I think 400/600 is bordering on track only - I run supercups and they are a bit stiff for the street.I have also run using stock set up and H+R coilovers and IMO the H+R coilovers were the best compromise for street and track. It appears the Eibach are pretty mild though.

Without wishing to sound like a search ****, if you put in spring rates on the 964 forum you get loads of useful threads.

"If you uprate the springs, go linear and put the Konis on full hardness it'll be sharper"

I second tonytaylor. I would start with linear springs with RS spring rates and play with the Konis and RS roll bars. A cheaper test alternative. If that is not enough I would go for something like the PSS 9, Leda or H&R Super Cups

Before you buy the springs check Bill Gregory`s article in the technical section on
http://www.porsche964.co.uk/
They need modifications and the Konis might have valving does not match the spring rates
Cheers
