Nice acquisition! I'd rather have one that looks to be mostly intact vs. some others I've seen. For what it's worth, I've owned my car almost 12 years and still have projects I want to tackle - take your time and enjoy the ride, at this point they are pretty special cars and deserve all the love we can give them.

Well, I can’t help but look into some unessentials as I wait for the car do basic car stuff like drive on the street. The Porsche Classic radio is a long-term goal but does anyone have experience with adding CarPlay on the cheap?
There seem to be two options:
“Cheaper than a tank of gas” cheap:
https://www.aliexpress.com/i/3256805...apt=4itemAdapt

“Cheaper than Wal-Mart groceries” cheap:

Some buyers have put it in Ferraris:

My car has option 691 “CD-2” and option 494 “additional amplifier” if that matters…

The worthiness of the AWD system is my other concern. My love of early AWD systems is a major reason why I got this car.
with the photo of your frunk there appears to be an unplugged electrical connection at the very front under the hood latch , this I believe is powered for the ABS auxiliary pump..
many C4 ‘s have some difficulty in this area either pump has ceased operation or the switch , light likely stays on , worth taking a look , Bert

Goughary pointed out that too. Plugged it in. After new tires and fluids they’re starting it up early next week. Of all the times to be a long weekend. 🤞

A lot of people, myself included, run the Continental HU, it has Bluetooth, looks period correct and is budget friendly. No need for a screen in an early 911.

Car play on the cheep is to run a line off the aux port in the back of your head unit. Play your iPhone through the car stereo. Your phone becomes your car play. I attach mine to the vent and it works great. The microphone on the phone is clear and the calls go through the stereo.

Another day, another parts search:
In his PCA 964 model guide video, Nathan Merz mentions a repair kit for the door arm rests.
Does anyone have a link to this specific item?

Well, the shop gave me an update:
”We got parts in and the car is running. It is leaking oil from everywhere on the engine. Brake lights do not work. Belts are squeaking and cracking. Exhaust is leaking from all connections.”

It looks like there’s a lot of work to do in the future.

Well, the car runs! Power windows, 8-way seats, and sunroof all properly function. That’s a relief.

The operating status of the frunk seems to have gone from spotty to nonexistent. Hopefully that’s an easy fix.

Guessing the first order of business will be new rotors & pads…along with some seals for the sunroof.

Regarding oil leaks - these cars all leak a little oil. It sounds like you have bit more though. Keep in mind that the engine fan can blow oil from one simple leak all over the engine. Typical issue is the oil pressure sensor gaskets and breather hose. Easy to replace but a bit cumbersome to get to with the engine in the car. The valve covers tend to leak but you will probably do a valve adjustment so those will be replaced anyway. Chain housing cover leaks make a mess. One of the most common reasons for leaks from valve covers or chain housing covers is over torquing the nuts. Plenty of info here. Search is your friend.

Goughary's Oil Line Madness thread is a great resource for dealing with the oil leaks.: https://rennlist.com/forums/964-foru...re-begins.html
