Default Spoiler transmission gears

I was wondering if anyone knows how to remove the gears from the spoiler transmission housing. There is a big bronze one that is driven by the worm drive that is connected to the smaller gear outside the housing that actually drives the spoiler up and down. So, I'm trying to figure out how to split those gears. Seems like they are press fit, but anything I tried, short of using the press, failed so far.
I've created a CNC model to cut the body out of aluminum that I was going to replace my broken plastic one, but can't separate the gears. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you, Tore. I used your instructions trying to fix my transmission, but my question is about separating the big bronze gear from the smaller silver gear outside the case.

I've wondered about this for years as well, since I've split 10-12 of these units to rebuild. With enough pressure, applied in the right spot, the gears will separate.

That said, it appears as if the steel outside gear is inserted into the housing, and then the large bronze gear is pressed into place for all eternity. A small gear puller, or small bearing remover may be a start.

I figured it out.
Yes, a puller similar to the above would work. The bronze gear is on the splines. Also, there is a bronze bushing.

So, now, since I know what it is, I can make the aluminum housing with screws instead of glue Stand by for results.

Another mystery solved. If you decide to make a few copies in aluminum, I would gladly consider purchasing one. Anodized black would be great.

Andreas, I don't think that color matters. It is covered by the plastic cover anyways. I don't have an option to anodize, unfortunately.

The thought of a serviceable gearbox is cause for celebration.

Quick update:
The prototype is tested and ready. Hopefully will be able to CNC one next week.

Perhaps i am not understanding the problem. If you split the plastic unit in the middle the wheel comes off.

Love to have one of these on the shelf for "when" the housing fails. Do let us know (PM if need be) if you can make a few of them.
