Spoiler transmission gears

Quick update: I've received most of the parts to assemble 10 units. 2 more components are coming in by Jan 31st. I should be able to ship out the assembled units by the end of the first week in Feb.
NOTE: The black plastic cover that covers the original mechanism won't work. I am working on a new, updated design that would provide the same cover but would incorporate my new system. It would probably be available in a month or so.

Sorry folks, life events are slowing things down a bit. I'm going to assemble 10 units tomorrow. I'll make a post here when I'm done with ordering details. My 964 has been in a shop for almost a month, slowing down testing and cover development. In the meantime, I'm testing with my 993.

QUICK UPDATE:
Assembly is not done yet - we ran out of taps for the set screw that holds the gear. Stainless steel is a tough material to cut threads in More taps arriving in the next caple of days. Stand by for updates.

ANOTHER UPDATE:
I've tested on the 993 and the gear needed to be redesigned. The redesign is complete and I'm waiting for the new gears to arrive. Apparently, 993's alignment is off by 1 mm, which made my original gear to be touching the mech uncomfortably close to the edge. It could be specific to my 993, but I've changed the design to accommodate a wider range. It's been a bit tough work-wise, so took me quite a bit longer than originally planned.

Alright, folks, I got 10 units ready to ship. The price is $250 per unit + shipping. To simplify shipping, PM with a shipping label. The package weight would be 1lb. Box dimensions 5in x 3in x 3in. You will need to reuse the existing mounting bolts. I will include the Allen key for the set screw that holds the gear. I've used stainless steel hardware. The gear is made out of aluminum with the idea that it should wear out faster than the actual mechanism as it's much easier to replace. The bracket is made out of weapons-grade GRP. Feel free to ask any questions. The system works in 964s only with the OEM spoiler mech. The black plastic cover won't fit over it, so you'll run without the cover. It's not a big deal, though. I am still working on a replacement cover that will be available later. You use this system at your own risk. I assume no liability. When installing the system, I highly recommend covering the engine with some big towel so you don't drop the nuts and bolts into the engine and have to endure metallic rattles (Ask me how I know )

Folks I've tested it on non-modified '96 Targe and the system doesn't work there because of the ducting, which prevents the lid from closing. The duct feeds cooler air into the main cooling fan shroud surrounding the alternator. I got an idea on how to address it, but as of now the mech doesn't work.

Euge, what did you develop this on, a '95? The early (most) '95's didn't have that duct setup, they were like the 964's. Late '95's and later went to the ducting you show-which would be on most 993's.
