I plan to purchase a strut brace for my 92 coupe. However, I do not want to cut or remove the carpet in the trunk. Looking at pictures from various manufacturers there seems to be a variety of approaches regarding the design of the end plates that attach to the strut towers.
Can someone share there experiences regarding braces that install without carpet cutting or removal.
Thanks

I just went through the same thing.
Most designs require cutting the carpeting. Which design achieves the maximum stability I cannot tell you. I have tried three different bars with rather varying designs. I found no discernable difference between them. They all appeared to improve the stiffness. Although some weigh more than others.
I settled with the factory bar (which cost almost double) because it allowed me to cover the bar with the carpet instead of cutting it. The carpet is somewhat lifted but in place. It may be cheaper to buy a second carpet and modify it using an aftermarket brace then it is to buy the factory bar.
Good Luck

I like that Racing Dynamics design. I have the AJUSA and while no cutting was required it does need the carpet to be bent back a tad - but not so I notice or care.

I just put a Weltmeister strut bar on my Speedster. I was able to put the carpet back over the bar. However, now I can't see it. I'm considering cutting the carpet so I can view my new addition when I open the lid.

I like my Rennline brace - I got mine in black and installed it under the carpet so no cutting was required.
