Default Thoughts on FVD Exhaust Parts & MAF w/ LWFW for a Fun Daily Driver

Hello all,

I have a 1993 964 C4 that I'm looking to install a 200-cell CAT, cup pipe, sport end muffler, and MAF system from FVD (along with a light weight fly wheel). I was wondering if anyone was running a LWFW with a MAF system on a daily driver-ish 964, and if so, what are your thoughts? I'm planning on running the stock Motronic with a tune made specifically for the car.

The car is a second vehicle, but as I work from home, I find an excuse to drive more so than any other. I don't see much traffic congestion in it.

For anyone interested, the setup will be:
FVD Cup Pipe
https://www.fvd.net/us-en/170111044/...y-muffler.html

FVD Sport End Muffler
https://www.fvd.net/us-en/BES9640500...d-version.html

FVD 200 Cell CAT
https://www.fvd.net/us-en/2101119640...ll-110-mm.html

(Will be having the exhaust jet-hot coated in an attempt to keep the intake temps down with the drilled airbox)

FVD MAF Kit
https://www.fvd.net/us-en/FVD11004/f...-hp-gains.html

The intake will be a stock paper filter with a drilled "cup car" intake box. I'm on the fence about running an oiled air filter (BMC) in this car just yet. The box face is drilled and has wire mesh covering the holes.
Also, I have a lightweight flywheel and necessary parts going in as well, with a new stock trans mount, and a reinforced Rennline engine carrier and RS engine mounts.

FVD provided a tuned chip for the setup, I will be having it personalized to the car on a local dyno.

If time permits, I'll get stock / after sound clips of the exhaust, as I know a few people have expressed interest over the years in a similar setup.
I'll also see about pre-mod/post mod dyno runs to get an idea what the mods put down. I'll definitely have the latter. I'm not interested in making the car a HP monster. More of a sharper GT for daily use and the occasional autocross or DE event. 270 at the wheels seems like a sweet spot for horsepower.

I have light flywheel in my c4 and it was really pain in the ××× daily usage. I ordered steve wong chip and that helps a bit. Then I tried another c4 what has light flywheel and fvd maf conversion and it works fantastic. I ordered fvd lb2 and it arrive last week so cant tell yet how it works. I also have their exhaust system with 100cell cats so i hope i got some extra hp.

I dont have plan to put my car to dyno. I just want that it works as good as it was before light flywheel change. Not fan of that conversion if talk about daily driver.

happy driven.

I have a similar set up right now. I run a FVD 100 cell cat, FVD cup pipe and the FVD secondary muffler. Car is not loud at all, very nice deep rich sound. Sounds like a 964 cup car. Very little sound inside the cabin, but nice sound outside. No drone at all. I daily the car in the summer time.
I used a Steve Wong chip instead of the FVD MAF as the MAF is not simply a chip. You actually have to do some soldering and I didn't want to mess with that.
As far as the LWFW is concerned. Had one of those as well but now I'm black to stock - I would not recommend as a daily.

Has this setup changed the feeling of the car? I'm considering something similar or possibly this exact system. I'm worried about loosing low end torque.
Have you noticed any good or bad changes?
Thanks

How light of a lightweight flywheel are you guys talking?

Obviously there is some weight range there. A fully aluminum flywheel could be extra-light compared to a single-mass steel flywheel that has been machined down to some degree.

So maybe there is a lighter flywheel than stock that is not as light as an aluminum flywheel that has replaceable friction surfaces, which might be more usable on a daily basis....?

i actually love the way the car drives. Don’t feel any loss in low end torque. If anything, car feels more responsive throughout all rev ranges. I like this setup as it saves weight, gives a nice sound, has no drone and is easily reversible.

I’m running a Cat bypass and Cup Primary and think the sound is perfect and adds a few noticeable Hp.
