Default BBI / Evo Uprights Installation Question

I'm currently having BBIs uprights installed and have a question regarding which ball joints to use. Should I stick with 964 ball joints or go with 993 ball joints? The BBI rep I spoke to said that they are the same but there are clearly two different part numbers. For those who upgraded to EVO uprights, which ball joints did you use? Thanks.

They aren't the same. I've used 993 ball joints on EVO uprights. Answer can be found in following thread.

Maybe read through this thread and see what the differences are for each component.

I would think you need to run 993 control arms to run 993 ball joints.

Also, will you mount your ball joint above or below the control arm?

Thanks guys. Don't know where the ball joints will go yet but will keep you posted.

I've come across another issue with the installation. I have new 993TT rotors and when mated to the carrier, the disc portion of the unit touches the carrier (see below). Any one know the fix to this?

Did you run that brake package on the car before? I’ve a 993 offset Brembo setup and no clearance issues.

I ran 965 rotors before with big reds on the stock 964 carriers. That worked with the Rennline adapter. The 965 rotors didn't work with the BBI uprights so we gave it shot with the 993TT rotors, which is what's pictured.

What is the issue with the 965 rotor ?
just checking you’re 100% sure the rotor pictured is a 993tt part?
are they front rotors?
can you post the Porsche part number?

964/965/928/944/951 rotors all have the same o/s, 993 all have the same o/s, but 964 & 993 are different o/s

I was under the impression that the BBi wheel carriers are set up for the 993 rotor o/s, factory 993 RS wheel carriers which the BBi are supposed to emulate certainly need 993 o/s rotors.

You guys are on point. Just checked and it's the wrong rotor. The uprights are 993 centric so the 993TT rotors should work. I'll report back once installed. Thanks!

Exactly, which is why I was like huh? I sent the pic to Betim at BBI last night and he was confused as to what was going on too. They've sold a bunch of this with all sorts of different brake packages being used and not had that offset issue.

Whew. What rotor was it? Post back want to make sure all is good once you get the right rotor on there!
