Climate control weight?
Last night my heating packed up.. fan started coming on, then off then died altogether. I'm assuming it's the control unit as it did not feel like a fuse and if one fan had broken I think there is still another in the dash that should have been working? Also, no heat at all bleeding though the vents though it was on when it all packed up.
Anyhow, if it is the control unit I may just take the whole system out to save weight as my car is mainly track anyhow.
Anybody know the weight of the fans, control unit and heat exchangers, presumably all of which I could bin?
Also, any way of getting fresh air into the cabin once all that crap is taken out?

Honestly an easy thing to remove but I wouldn't want to reinstall it so IMO consider it a removal only item. The overall weight as I recall was not huge. On par with the sunroof maybe a total of 40 pounds but don't hold me to it as I did not make note of its weight. It is a lot of plastic tubes and parts the suitcase is the bulk of the weight. The heater coil and fans are the majority of the weight. I can add up the tubes and motors which I have in a box but I got rid of the heater coil.
You would need to custom fabricate something to get air into the cabin once removed.

The suitcase is the climate control system up front. Don't forget that the heater boxes around the exhaust is only a small part of the weight. The exhaust itself is heavy. the pipe that runs along the back only ways a few pounds.

Replaces the air box, the control panel and the heat exchangers at the rear of the vehicle (12.000g).
Only fresh air blower, no heating! Additionally required is a Porsche Radial Blower (911.624.043.00)

BTW this was from a $227k 911 SC RSR backdate on BaT
. They used the early ventilation system which could probably be soured cheap and retrofitted.

Nice. Reminds me of a past C&C, were a local did the same to his rally car, plus he added a nice little adjuster/setting plate.

The original 'suitcase' weighs around 10kg (30 lbs). The compressor and hoses and other bits are at least another 15kg, maybe 20kg.
We are working on adapting our lightweight electric A/C to the 964 platform. Our custom blower/evaporator will fit the 964 with some adaptation. We have a couple of cars in build at the moment. We are also working on a CCU replacement.

^. Right now, we have a client testing a kit that works with the standard 'suitcase'. Another is installing our blower into a modified 964 shell but that is some months away.
Both clients are major names so we are slightly at the mercy of the schedule of a much larger build programmes. I would expect summer 2018.
Standard kit is available to order now but waiting list extends to next Feb/March for delivery.

I'm removing the lower dash, so I unplugged the CCU and tossed it in the scale. The CCU weighs 2 lbs., 3 oz.(plus the missing lower control ****, doh!)

Removing the CCU will also dispose of the oil cooler fan function, as well as the added colling of the rear fan.

Hey Tore, I've already got a rear blower delete so not bothered about that. But the oil cooler function sounds like it could cause issues if I remove the rest of the system?
