Post Resurrecting my 951

I've been working on returning my 951 to use after a 10 year hiatus. I've run it a coupe of times at the track now but mostly it's been shake downs between garage sessions. I think I've just about got it ready for some proper driving in June. As for work done over the past 2 months, I rebuilt the TO4E and had it ceramic coated, switched to manual steering, put in an adjustable brake bias valve, rebuilt the LSD and put in an S2 R&P with Sean Buchanan, installed a transaxle SSK (Only 944). Just about to rebuild the TT with Constantine's super-bearings and of course there have been a bunch of misc replacements because the car hasn't been run for so long. Looking forwards to running it now and it's about time to swap the 2012 MPSCs for some A050s.

I think I can hear your timing belt in the video, sounds tight or loose one of the two. But very very clean and nice 951!!!

You need to get that thing to the track and get some dirt on it. It is entirely too clean.

I like your way of thinking ... and looking forwards to complying!

I know right where does the time go. Although living another continent, European race tracks and a pretty 996 might have had something to do with it

Thanks, I'm really excited about getting her back to the track with the recent improvements.

Is that a factory yellow or resprayed?
It looks so clean. all of it.

I think it's time for a new avatar I'm pretty sure that plate is now sitting in a box somewhere in my cupboard.
I replaced it with a 968 cubby and a PLX LCD where the clock sits.

It was re-sprayed in 2001 with a non factory colour.
What do you mean new avatar ? this one is barely 16 years old! Although it did occur to me that I no longer have the red gauge plate, I'd forgotten that it was in the other 951 you bought from me. So yeah maybe you're right about the avatar change.

These arrived in the last few days, more goodies on the path to reduced vibration/noise.

3 of 4 Superbearings and the only 944 needle bearing shifter.

The shifter looks a treat. we ended up reaming out the hole on the linkage and using a bigger pin as the hole in the shaft wasn't straight, it as really worn out. It feels so solid. Also new parts on the gearbox side too.

I liked the red plate. went well with the steering wheel and the whole maroon interior. The wheel is now in my project 924.

This is what i've got now, minus the headunit. I've changed that now to a Pioneer DEH-80PRS

Those hussies, they are such *****! Stealing people away from their one true love, the 951. Just because they are all "water-cooled" too, and have all their junk in the trunk, they think they are all that!!!

Well, at least you have good excuses!! My 87's sat a year + just gathering dust!!! And I have no really good excuse (aside from my health not being 100%, but I could have done SOMETHING)

Looking forward to seeing this one come back alive!! Keep us posted!

Great to see your 951 back in action. Your website has inspired many a 944 owner. Keep us posted on the progress.

As someone who wants to, but hasn't the time to, replace my tt bearing with one (or 2) of those superbearings, I am thoroughly jealous!!! If you are inclined post up some pics as you do the job.

Car looks pretty damn good.

I started a separate thread for the torque tube rebuild to make it easier to find later on.
