MAGK - that's a really neat idea.
Though couldn't you just put a magnet in place of the TDC mark for a hall sensor to pick up as the wheel rotates? Unless your ECU is counting teeth?

Hall sensor would be easier, didn't the S2 or 968 use one on the cam gear?

I use Electromotive on two of my cars so I'll have to check if it accepts a hall signal. I suppose that any solution would need to be good for any ECU out there and they all will accept a missing tooth afaik.

I have Electromotive TEC-GT as well, it will be made for compatibility with the TEC line for sure and yes Hall sensor is just fine. No, 968 and S2 did not use Cam Synch, but do have a 60-2 flywheel. I have a custom machined 60-2 trigger Billet 951 flywheel. That I will replace the Clewett setup with.

We are on the same path except I used an S2 flywheel and housing to replace my front mounted Clewett. Smaller clutch but I'm not running huge hp and I've had no issue with it. I looked at the custom 60-2 for the turbo, it's a nice piece.

I could have sworn I saw some sort of sensor on the back of a 968 cam housing??

...oh and I'm in for this deal if you haven't counted me already.

16v 944/968 have a hall-effect sensor on the back of the cam gear housing to pick up TDC, and re-set the "counter" of flywheel teeth.

Thank you, I stand corrected, never owned a 16V, should not have assumed. It can be used as a cam Synch as is I assume then? Funny, this is the first I have heard of this.

George D is also using the Electromotive TEC-GT and along with Devon so we are getting a decent sized group together. I am hoping Shawn installs his next project and becomes a TEC-GT master.

That is great, sorry for the misinformation previously, my bad, never assume. Great to here you are in, only need two more, Yay!

I see you are from Palm Beach, there is a master tuner on Electromotive Tec-GT's there. I thought about shipping my car over there to them. I forgot the name of the shop, but you can see from the Electromotive Web Site. Uwe spoke highly of them and Dave Smith up in Panama City.

BTW, what is your name?

The tuner is <RoadnRace>, they are in West Palm Beach. I am lucky to have a number of world class tuners within 25 miles of me, including <RennTech> who tunes my AMG.

My name is Mike, I don't know why my signature isn't showing, it's set to show. Here it is anyway:

Mike:

Yes, that is the one! Thanks for the information. I will fly back to Florida on Friday. What was the outcome of that cam sync in your pics? Did it work satisfactory? Do you have a picture of the sensor mount? The gear appears to be aluminum which is surprising. I will send you a PM, with my number we should chat when I get back on the East side.
