Default 951S with slight MODs, where to SMOG in Bay Area?

Hello everyone,

It is time for me to SMOG my 1988 951s. I have done some light modifications to it and therefore will need to bring it to a SMOG test facility that is a little more lenient. I live in Burlingame and would like to find a place in the area, if there is one.

Here it the list of upgrades preformed on my '88 951S:

- 3.0" Fabspeed performance exhaust package
- Replaced cat delete straight pipe with new custom pipe with CAL legal catalytic converter
- Tial 38 dual port waste gate
- Rogue's A-Tune Package
- Lindsey Racing manual boost controller
- Autometer Sport Comp Boost gauge
- Innovate Motorsports Air Fuel Ratio gauge with wideband controller and brand new oxygen sensor (correctly installed after the turbo and not in the factory spot)
- Lindsey racing adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator

My mechanic checked the smog values. They are excellent and it will pass the SMOG test without a problem, I just need to find a place that is not strict on the visual inspection, especially do to the Fabspeed exhaust. I do not have the stock exhaust any longer and therefore installing it back on is not an option (unless I buy a good used one from someone here).

Any suggestion on where to go for SMOG is highly appreciated.

Thank you all in advance.

Cheers,
Igor

I think you'll have more problems getting the FPR, boost controller, and shiny wastegate passed visually than the exhaust itself.

FPR especially...

Hopefully someone has an answer, but if you had to, could you revert to "stock" parts just for the test?

I go here: Smog Test Only in Mt. View, CA

Mike is a very good guy, tracks cars himself (BMW 2002). Go see him
and chat with him about your car.

BTW, some of my cars are on the top of his Yelp page - they both
came from out of state.

Let us know how the test goes. I know a shop in Foster City/San Mateo that's pretty lenient on the visual.

If you end up needing to borrow stock parts, let me know, I have some you can use.

Keep us posted on your experience. I'm really interested in how the A tune will turn out. I've been wanting to buy this for a couple years.
