Q: pre-oiling start up
Getting ready for an initial start up of a rebuilt turbo engine. Any suggestions on how to pre-oil prior to initial start up?
Thanks

I was hoping there was a "trick" or two. The pressurized crankcase is interesting. Any idea on the desired pressure?
BTW! I plan to remove the spark plugs to help with the turnover speed.

Contact Mike Lindsey. The document I have is in an older word format that I can't translate. He has a very nice startup document.
It's 20 psi for air pressure, using regulator on compressor, down the oil dipstick tube.
Clamp the hose "pinch" coming out of the top of the air oil separator.
Watch for your oil pressure gauge to bounce indicating that your oil pump is primed.
It's a 2 person job.

Wish i knew that trick a while ago .I managed to seize an engine by only cranking while pulling the filter every now and the to pour more oil in the filter-housing ..

what I have heard from builders they just start it up. Builds oilpressure right away.

i just pull the wire from coil to dizzy and crank it over plenty until OP shows on the gauge...
plug it in and go...might need to feather the throttle a little on the first start in case it's a little flooded though.

Also, if you're using brand new cams you need to run them in for about 20mins circa 2000rpm.
