Default Ebay T04E Hybrid

Hi is anyone running this T04E turbo on ebay? Looks like Broadfoot is selling them:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/PORSCHE-951-...BWpRW-&vxp=mtr

I'm guessing it's a chinacharger which, from the turbo miata world, don't seem to be that bad. Would I expect considerably more boost lag with this over my k26/6 (boost enhancer and software atm ~14psi)

Thanks!

I've used that turbo from Broadfoot and it works well in a 944 Turbo. It's a Garrett turbo with a rear K26/6 housing. Performance is comparable to a K27/6 without any of the additional coolant lines. I have used it with boost up to 20PSI, with no issues.

Just sharing my experience with the Garrett hybrid turbo that they sell, which I found to be a good product. Unfortunately, Broadfoot's business practices leave a lot to be desired and is well documented in other threads.

If you are going to go through the effort of upgrading the turbo go ball bearing instead of journal. Downside being they generally require both oil and water cooling but IMO that's what you want anyways since it helps increase the lifespan of the turbo.

I would say that turbo is no touch.
Broadfood is arrogant I wouldn't give him a dime of he had the lad good 951 parts on the planet.

Also when I bought my turbo I called Dave Lindsey, told him what I wanted the car to do, and he shipped me a turbo that did exactly what he said it would.

After switching to the #8 hot side I wouldn't consider a turbo with a #6.

Not sure your going to see huge gains from the ball bearing center section. It's your money, you do what you want

All,
Thanks for the feedback. I think I've made up my mind and will go with a smaller BB turbo to get quick spool and ~275whp with supporting mods:

Keen to see how you go with the 034 Motorsports turbo and whats involved in making it fit. I've had my eye on them for a while, they seem to be much better prices than most of the after market turbos for 944s. Bear in mind that the disco potato is meant for the SR20, which is a 2L engine...our 2.5 might benefit more from the GT3071.

Check Paully's build thread for a good overview of fitting a turbo with a GT center section

Also some older threads that no longer have pictures. I'll add that to the blog post write ups subjects.

Call me weird but I don't really want much more power than my 951 currently has with a tune, maybe 275rwhp at most with supporting mods. I'm looking to replace the turbo only if it's worn out with the benefit of getting a fatter torque/hp curve. I feel that a quicker spooling turbo will make the car more toss-able and fun than it currently is... but I've never driven a big power 951, so that all may change

They will do almost 275 to the wheels with a stock turbo.... seems like an exercise in frustration. If that turbo is even slightly more challenging to install than stock I can't imagine it's worth it

I wonder what brand CHRA Broadfoot is using. I don't see Garrett markings anywhere, so I'd be leery of it being a Chinese ebay special.

Hope someone installs such a disco potato . Always Wonder if they are actually better than a 26/6-k26/8 if same power and they spool faster it is an improvement.
