Default Mounting a pt5858

Little to no actual info on grinding the factory mount to make one of these fit (or 6262 for that matter)

Could anyone confirm if all I need to do is grind down the fins beneath the hotside housing?
Broadfoot sells a mount with oil passages modified rewelded etc, and I just want confirmation if the 5858 actually needs that.

This (source - refresh951 garrett install)

OR this (source - broadfoot site)

Which housing do you have? If it's a new PTE turbo with their .82 AR K26 bolt on housing, then you'll need the Broadfoot type mount.

Thank you. Have received 2 separate opinions with the same take. I had sent you essentially the same PM, go ahead and ignore it. :P

You need the Broadfoot mount.

Have you bought the turbo already? If not, then I'd read up about Precision turbo reliability and customer service.

I had not. I had assumed it to be a full tilt 2.5 and eventually a very good 2.8l stroker turbo.

We're the issues with Pcar related applications or other makes?

Most of the PTE issues are old and overrated. My 5558 has been working flawlessly for two years now. Make sure you get the ball bearing version, avoid journal bearings. Our engines work best with thicker, high viscosity oil which will also help the turbo live a long life.

The journal bearings were already out of the equation.

How was your 5858 on your 2.5 prior to stroker kit?

I never had the PTE on the 2.5 I upgraded the turbo and engine at the same time.

I have it on a stock 2.5L short block, this is the best option in my opinion if you want to keep a fairly stock setup. Possibly would consider the PT-5658 for slightly faster spool.
