Unlimited boost after installing Tial 38mm wastegate
My 1989 951 is mostly stock except for weltmeister chips, 3 bar fpr, 9R camshaft, and a k27-6.
I just installed a tial 38mm wastegate with a 10lb spring and the boost went right past the 20lbs mark on my gauge (the gauge only goes up to 20) so I tried a 3.6lb spring and the same thing happens it just takes a little longer to spool. I have the cv connected to the side port on the wg and the top one vents to atmosphere.
We connected an LED to the cv to light up when its working and it does work, I can't think of anything else to try. Any help would be appreciated
thanks

You have your vac lines to your Tial reversed.

Thanks for the help, it turns out the whole wg was hooked up backwards, i switched it last night and now the boost stays around 17-20 psi with the 10lb spring in it. for 15lbs of boost what spring do people usually run?

I think i have a 0.8 or 0.9 BAR spring and regretted choosing such a spring . I would like the car to only boost 0.6 bars, when the car have the boost controller inactivated because i have a lockable switch for boost-control. That way i can dial down power with knock and softcut more. And my car holds the spring pressure exactly like it should.

For 944 turbo's with tial wastegates you have to install the wategate backwards, the bottom of the wastegate connects to our x-over pipe. I think that is what 951 was talking about when he said it was all backwards. Lindsey's wastegate is installed just like factory since they use the body of the factory wastegate and have their own upper/diaphragm body which means just install it like factory wg's.
Then the side outlet of the wg to the wastegate outlet/tie-in to the exhaust.

I put the wg on correctly this time and have the lines hooked up like the directions said, and it still gets too much boost. This time I don't think it's unlimited boost but it still goes well over 20 psi. It doesnt seem like theres really any lighter springs i can try for the 38mm, any suggestions?
Thanks

the actual wg spring is the minimum setting for boost control.
Ie a .8Bar spring allows you to control any amount of boost In Excess of .8bar. You need to make sure you have the wg installed correctly and then spend some time with your manual or electronic boost controller to set your maximum boost level.

The spring rating is for when the wastegate cracks open - not when boost is fully evacuated. You want a lighter spring; the second port on the wastegate, in conjunction with boost controller, creates additional "spring weight" with air pressure.

Burning Brakes
Below is a photo mockup of the configuration (pardon the dusty exhaust), and a diagram for using a MBC with it.
