>>>To Dana: If you notice the video you selected the vette was ahead for a moment and actually close at the start, then the bike does run away like lightning, now if the bike ran a low 11 second pass at the speed of high 120's (too hard to see the exact numbers clearly due to bad camera imagery), thats not too shabby at all but ill let you know my car would run high 11's too, and the corvette clearly slows down from the mid point to the end of the race.<<<

Actually no. The vette didnt slow down one bit. Yes on higher resolution video you can see the R1 ran an 11.2 and the vette was a 14.5. I just had a small video for size reasons (higher resolution was 4 megs). The vette was giving it all it had. It trapped over 100mph.

>>>but the vette ran a 14 second quarter mile time which i could of beaten with my old pontiac grand prix turbo from 1989<<<

I seriously doubt your old grandprix would run anywhere near that on that track.

Since you have been here, you know that you cannot breathe easily. Same for cars. Most vettes cannot get into the 14s and for the C5 guys try to modify their cars to break the magic 100mph barrier in a 1/4. Viper are mid to high 14 second machines here too. My friends 98 Cobra 32V V8 ran a 15.8 at high 80s. What you saw was simply the effects on both the car and the bike of what a 25% power loss due to altitude does.

Those numbers are all out.

Boulder canyon, yes I have been up that way. However, I dont really like it. Sometimes some guys will take a quick lunch time ride up to the falls and back in teh summer. Its not a great ride (or drive) though.. It is too crowded and too dangerous (dodging slow moving bicycles is only fun in a pickup truck).

As far as camping, no, I dont go to that area. I like more secluded higher mountain ranges. I like the collegiate peaks area the best.

And puppan, no my tone isnt humble. I have never claimed it to be so.

Swedeboy, when you said "It's the attitude of people like yourself that get motorcycle riders killed on the Nordschleife and other public roads on a regular basis" I think you failed to read what i said. I said that any bike rider who would be on the track with a cage was stupid.

I wont drive on any track (other than a drag strip) with cages. Its simple physics (as some people have said). 3000lbs car. 150lbs rider getting run over by 3000lb car. That says a lot.

I also will back off on public roads with cars (and bikes). From what I have seen in our mountains, most cars drive closer to the edge than bikes (although many bike riders are scary too). Basically, I will back off of chasing a poor car driver or a poor bike rider in a canyon. It doesnt matter if i am in my car or bike. Why?

When you start to run these people, they push past their limits to prove something. Once they push too hard, it is a matter of time before a wreck. I prefer not to get ivolved in the wreck. I have been donw racing bikes, and its not fun.

In the same manner, if a teenage kid rolls up on my bike with a mustang (or civic you take your pick) I will let them go. They are too unpredictable. Did they win a race? I guess so. Are they faster? Well i guess they must be.

As far as wrecks on the ring. The two days I was there I saw one crashed Zx6 and 5 cars. Bikes outnumbered cars about 2:1 the two days i was there. The most heartbreaking wreck i saw was a very new M3.

I only wish I would have had a better car. But hey, my rented Opel Zafria was sliding around lot of turns....(the european guys will get the humor of that). The tires made lots of noise on the ring....and the squeeling wasnt from power....

But I know how to end this arguement. My F150 4x4 is faster than the fastest car or bike when two feet of snow is on the ground...

Swedeboy,

Bear with me.

You wanted to see my rides. I have uploaded them to my server, however, I cannot seem to access them via teh web. It will probably be tomarrow before I can give a link.

I will post links as soon as I get them. They are not all my cars/bikes. Some are just interesting things I have taken picss of (like a Ruf on teh Ring, local F40LM (lemans F40) that runs around the street here). Some of the stuff I no longer have (i.e. the 944, only have the 951), etc.

But I will get links ASAP.

I thought so...he's one of my best friends. We will be at the Nurburgring again this weekend. Probably the last time this year...

Actually...anyone interested in a video of my 951 on the Ring taped from a friend's Civic Type-R?

I´m starting to think that we are on the same side here
My point was that I know alot of R-Bikes are very fast at the track and on country roads but most riders fortunally don´t push the limits to the max because if they do they proberbly won´t live long enough to enjoy thier victory!

Unfortunally I don´t have any digital pictures of my old Gixxer 750R but here some pictures of my Turbocup... I hope the link works...
