Default Front suspension set up with KW V3?

Hi all, I recently bought an 87 with KW V3 coilovers all around, and am curious about some things. On the drive home the car handled great and overall seems like a awesome set up, but when I have it on jacks, the front a arms don't seem to droop as much as I would figure. They only go to level or slightly below, and the helper springs on the coils are fully compressed even with no weight on the suspension. Is this normal with this set up on a 951? Or is there something wrong? At full droop I can fit my fist between the well well and tire, so about 3" droop from weighted ride height. I have not taken it to West End in LA for alignment and corner balance yet.

Thanks for any input!

Sam

Sounds normal. Aftermarket racing and performance struts are typically a couple of inches shorter than OEM since they're intended to be used with stiffer springs. This is why the droop travel is less than you'd expect. Also, if you were to lower the car more then the helper spring would begin to unwind and fill the gap crrated between upper perch and main spring to prevent it from unseating. It sounds like you're running a street ride height that doesn't require assistance from the helper to keep the main seated.

This is normal and i kind of like it actually, less pumps to get the wheels off the ground. Also makes getting the front sway bar on super easy!

V3's on my car since '09. Awesome setup.

I did notice the sways came off very easily when I did the switch from solid motor mounts to Lindsey ultra mounts, bonus! Thanks for the input guys, makes me feel better about it, it does handle like a dream and can't wait to push it for real on track-

I love the KWs.

I have mine set up slightly firmer. But with the dual valve shocks, not noticeable on street unless turning in hard

They are great coil overs. Very nice on the street, but when you get aggressive they work very very well. I wish I would have kept mine.

I really like my V3s as well. I noticed the same thing on the front suspension -- way less droop than stock when the car is lifted.

Thanks for the responses guys, they are great and I'm very glad they were already on the car since my wife is about to have a baby and 3k for coilovers would make no sense to her! Just wanted to make sure the lack of droop was normal. I will probably drop the car a 1/2" or so when I get it corner balanced and aligned, after the car loses a bit of weight.

Recommend getting new balljoints if lowering the car.

New stock ball joints or is there something special for a slight lowering? Nothing crazy still has to be LA street able. Was thinking about doing that at some point preventatively any way.
