What turbo did you run before and are you (re?)using the stock intake?
What cam do you have?

Pauter rods
Mahle/alusil

Since the same cold side will be used you should feel exactly the benefits of a GT turbine up top, but that will put to evidence more clearly the limitations of the stock intake that in my experience didn't perform exactly well with a GT35 hotside on my 3l 8v. Curious to hear if you experience the same.

The car has been on jackstands since March the last track day. The goal is to be ready for Oct 3-4 track weekend. Plenty of room to really see what the difference this turbo will make coming off turn 9 in 4th hard on the gas and into 5th. I know where my shift point was, so it will be great fun.

Well the car is finally back together and at this point I will declare that the slip joint crossover is a success no leakage of course the real test will be the next track day

initial impression of the gt3582r is probably 200 rpm slower spool but I can live with that it's a worthwhile trade off compared to the LR 65 and the issues I had with that turbo

I seen that Garrett has the GTXR ceramic ball bearing turbos now. And you can upgrade again with a twin scroll crossover and turbine housing. Garrett also has a divided v band entry on the new turbine housings, and in different A/R housing sizes. Food for thought.

Car is back in the garage now. Only drove it for a quick 20minutes spin around to shakedown and check for leaks. Fitting this turbo was a load of work, especially since the only time I have to work on the car is weekends. I'm just happy to be done with it..lol.

Going to the track Oct 3&4 for the real test.

To close the loop on this story spent all last weekend at the track the slip joint performed flawlessly zero leakage no issues

the issue I did have was because the old turbo was passing so much oil the silicone couplers on the hard pipe between the turbo and intercooler had become oil soaked and I was blowing the pipe off all weekend that really put a damper on my whole weekend

So all in all the GT Turbo upgrade although it was very expensive it's worth the money

How about cleaning out the soiled coupler and hose with a spray of brake cleaner?

Congrats for all the hard work. A detail that I like with these turbos is that they keep spinning for a short while after shutting the engine down.
