Point taken, however you can lower the RC just by raising the spring plate pickup, no need to modify the banana arm mount unless you need to play with antisquat.

These cars do suffer from squat hence raising the pickup points as you mention Mike.

Wow. That's not squat, that's the ground falling away as you go into orbit!

Lol...that was back in 2013. We've reduced it a little since then but need to test the new X member.
Wish there was a simple way of converting to multilink but there has to be some fiscal limits placed somewhere.

Hey. If the US doesn't need fiscal limits, why do we?

Lets say budgetary constraints then. ;-)

If you were to have a multi-link, is there a particular design/"shape" you would want it to have, or is adjustability range more important?

I have a (perhaps silly, but interesting) idea to make an inexpensive, basic multilink with some adjustability (toe/camber) built in, but I need to take some good measurements before it'd be worth sharing.

Haven't given it enough thought past the 'normal' choice of rear engine Porsche parts. Something like Gustaf has on his car would be nice! Couple other 968 Uber builds down here too.

Looks like these will fit. Probably going to try them.

They also have some other parts for 944s that look good and well priced.

Cool! I'd go with this:
https://rennlist.com/forums/944-turb...l#post10068435

Leave the 944 torsion tube in place. Throw away the Audi subframe.

Throw away the Audi bottom link, use a triangulated arm from the original banana tube mount. This would be the hardest part of the construction.
Incorporate toe and camber adjustment on this arm. Also coilover bottom mount on this arm.

Retain the Audi top link. Needs a mount, but should be enough room.

Cheers,
Mike

Of course Abarth figured out how to convert a semi-trailing arm to double wishbone, decades ago. Info here: http://www.scuderiatopolino.com/phpb...c.php?f=6&t=50
(about halfway down the page, under "Yet another suspension version?")
Interesting geometry, had to work around the existing hard points but looks effective.

Cheers,
Mike

P.S. Dick Ward's car (Fiat 600 Abarth with 13B rotary) was epic in its day, any idea what happened to it?

Luckily, the trailing-arm/torsion tube arrangement gives us lots of big mounting points to borrow for other (nefarious) purposes

You're a regular font of knowledge and reference Mike. Crikey a 13b Bambino...that's mind boggling!

If you were to convert to rear twin arm suspension would you use existing parts (which would be pretty cheap to buy) or custom fabricate some arms and cut/fab mounting points?

Hmmm... tough one, which is why I'm working on modifying the existing arrangement.

For selection of an alternative, I'd start with the hubs and work inwards. Select the wheel PCD, brake rotor and caliper combinations that would be acceptable. Then look at the uprights and decide which would be most suitable. Then look at the geometry and mounting/hard points.
This will probably end up with zero options!

Couple of suggestions:
Mazda RX7 FC rear subframe. The whole car is copied off the 944, you would be surprised how many parts are "almost" interchangeable. Pretty obvious that Mazda started with a 944 as a development mule. So this should fit surprisingly well.

Love the geometry of the FC rear end, hate the toe-steer arrangement which adds weight and doesn't work on the track. I actually bought a complete subassembly back in 1995 for evaluation...
The geometry is fascinating, it gives twin arm geometry but in the 'vertically challenged" space of a semitrailing arm.

C5 Corvette rear end
This would require more substantial fabrication but is a complete subframe that should fit around the 944 trans. The lower shock mount looks like it might line up with the upper 944 shock mount, which would be nice.
