Default Plated Hardware

As the title states the first load of hardware is plated.

Ridiculous how much there was and it all turned out fantastic.

As can be seen in the photos I will be rebuilding a power steering rack which will look like new when finished.

Very nice! I would like to point out that even thou the fuel rail may look very nice I have had two turbo fuel rails leak in a row at different locations where the mounting tab meets the rail itself. Something to look out for in the future. Would suck to do all that work and loose it all to an engine fire. I ended up buying a LR fuel rail set up because I don't trust a 30+ year old stock fuel rail, especially after having two leak where I never thought they would.

I just wanted to plate it to see how it turned out. I am thinking off pressure testing it at work just to see what happens.

I have all the equipment at work to do it and will chat with other engineers I work with about it. I doubt it will ever get used again but I could not stand looking at it tarnished with corrosion.

Aww, yes I understand OCD issues too. I have a couple myself. Not THAT bad. That's crazy Eddie OCD you got going on there. Show quality work. Maybe one day I can afford that kinda OCD.

Where did you have your plating done? EPA has shut down my source; went elsewhere and they charged me a fortune! Any recommendation?

You could send it to me in Calgary if you want. I would love to return the favor with all the work you did for me on my neighbors car.

It's a local shop here.

Very happy with the work.

Everything in the pics was 400.00$ Canadian

How many lbs of hardware was that for $400 CAD? I am working on getting quotes from a shop in NC, and having a point of reference would be helpful.

Super jealous btw.

I would say at least 50lbs. The bin was about 4 inches deep full of hardware plus all the big stuff on top.

They didn't charge me by weight just did an estimate based on visual.

So that is where they leak, eh?

I was wondering about that. I had thought before that that area might work harden.

Anyone else know if the oem rails can leak from other seams or is this the place?

Bottom of car now completely has everything removed. Working on interior and remaining exterior. Lots of body work to happen...new metal in a few places.

I’ve been stalking this thread since soloracer mentioned the old 951 is being resurrected. Any 2018 updates? Would love to see this in person again sometime.
