Default Braking Upgrades........help

TIA,

My car seems to be running really strong and everything is current. I am really stoked on the effects of the recently installed LBE!

I now realize that I finally have enough car to really want some great stopping power. Yet, I am not sure how to proceed.

I want to get "big reds" or similar in the front as soon as I can afford it.
Anyone know of the best place to buy a kit (calipers, rotors, pads, etc..) and how much $$?

Also, can I (my mechanic), put the current front setup on the rear?

Lastly, in the near-term, what are the best low cost upgrades, if any (pads, ss lines, etc) and is this worth bothering with or just go big?

TIA !!

Your stock brakes are fine.

Get some Pagid Blues, ATE super blue fluid, and a 33/5 brake proportioning valve and you'll be stopping hard.

Bigger brakes are great.... but really aren't needed unless you racing the car on a track.

Thanks Tony. Can you suggest a good shop to buy these items from? On-line source would be cool so I can see stuff, etc.. I will search on my own but a referral would be appreciated.

So far, I have done some business with Ian at 944online.

Thanks

Canyon,
I'll trade you some info. ;-)

You'll find what you need at:
www.paragon-products.com
and
www.944racing.com

I've had great experience with the first, and no experience with the second.

Now, where'd you get the wheels? Do they require any spacers? Widths?

Thanks,
Jon

Nice wheels! where did you get them? And if you don't mind asking how much they were...

Dan,
I already called dibs! ;-) I'm hoping that they're 17's, but a quick search of ebay shows that style in 18's for the Boxster.

Great avatar, btw.

They are "Sport Classics". There is a 17" one-piece version and a 18" two piece version. Both made by BBS for Porsche, optional on Boxsters and 996

The above are the 17" version

How much are they running for? Can they be bought from BBS dealers?

Perhaps, that would be the super expensive way to do it though. Sorta like buying new phone dials at a Porsche dealer.

Look for used sets here in the Rennlist Ads or elsewhere. 17" set should be under a grand. In fact, I had an agreement to buy an 18" set from a fellow Rennlister for similar money, but he ended up selling to another guy more local . . . *thanks*

Both versions have very little if any lip, so some may not like the look. On that red car they look gorgeous.

Talking

Holy thread highjack Batman! (he he)

Seriously, thanks Tony. I'll look into getting a Paragon catalog.

And everyone else on the wheels:

Thanks for the compliments. I am very happy with the look and my originality (lol) !

They do require a 1/4" spacer in the front only; otherwise the caps pop off.
I got lucky and was watching Ebay like a hawk. did "buy it now" 10 mins after they posted.

paid $1,300, What a deal!!

I was going to buy them with S-03's from Wheel Enhancement (take-offs/new tires) for $2400 inlc. the spacers + $180 for the painted crested caps (ouch!), but still fair.

I scored! I think they would look good on ANY color 951.

cheers!
CB
