Default Cracked block repair thread

I did $13,000 of mods on this car. And ran 2000 miles and I cracked the block. It's time to put it back together with a new steel sleeved block and a different engine management etc.Attachment 897182

24" is plenty of room. Sorry to hear about your motor, everyone around here knows huntley is junk. I'd recommend going with megasquirt if you are interested in doing EMS. I have a very good thread about installation and tuning floating around.

Good luck with the swap!

A guys here in the Netherlands has a plug and play EMS; VEMS. It bolts right onto your harness and it's even better than Megasquirt and really not expensive!

Good luck!

I used cinder blocks/ramps to do my clutch, pics in this thread:

but since have built wooden blocks to replace the cinder blocks (excuse crappy cell phone pic):

If I need more height, I can still put the ramps on top of the wooden blocks. Very stable and plenty of room to work, albeit a bit of a pain to get up on the blocks.

+1, and you can screw in some stop block to stop it from rolling if you forget the handbrake.

Default update

I have decideed to go ahead with project m the car has been in hybernation for five years. when i had it running it hauled ***, way faster than I will ever need. I turned the adjustable boost dial one day while racing and the boost shot up to i dont know how muchm definatly past 22.....the car was tuned on a dyno to 18 psi, I was given the charts etc....I did many boost cycles at 18 and it overwelmed the suspension......I will be happy at 16 p.s.i.....so I am going to use what I have if it all works again.....I will transfer everything over to the steel sleeved block...All i need this car for is a comuter to my basecamp...I have no interest in racing etc..

I HATE to say this, especially given Huntley's reputation, but its hardly his fault if you turned the boost 5 psi+ past what it was tuned for. That probably caused detonation that cracked your block. It sucks, but don't fiddle with your boost controller in the middle of a race.
