Default Aborted dyno attempt, told "no safe way to strap down your car"

Those of you who have dyno'd your 951.... Did the shop do anything special to strap it down?

Got in on a group buy dyno day with a couple Miata guys at some admittedly small ****ty little Honda tuner place, $60 for three pulls with boost and wideband. Got it up on the machine, they stared at it for 10 minutes, then pulled it off.

I'm happy they erred on the side of safety.... But didn't think there was anything special or complicated about the 944.

Prepaid via PayPal, gotta email them Monday for a refund, so a pain but at least I'll get my $$$ back. Sucks I stood around all day watching a bunch of Miatas run but oh well...

My shop uses long straps looped around the torsion bar carriers to get past the trans cooler loop.

Mine did the same thing as v2 . I have heard many shops mention the 951 is a pain to strap down.

I use those special T hooks that go into the round jack point areas at the back for my straight-back straps, and the torsion bar carier ends for the cross straps.

Someone on pelican was offering tow eyes that bolt on lower shock bolt for $30/PR powder coated red.

At my shop they just cross strap to the torsion bar carriers and then double strap to the front bumper tow hook, car doesn't move, but you've got a lot more power to tie down.

I have these. They used them at the dyne and I use them on the trailer.

I use these (similar design to the Rennline ones at much less cost). The lower shock bolt goes through them so it's sandwiched between the arm and shock. The tech had no issue securing the car for a dyno run. They're my rear attachment points on the trailer, too. Haven't rusted in 10 years.

^^^ These (the flat ones) are what I've always used. Perfect for dyno and trailer tie down points. Well worth the money.

Thanks guys.

I have a set of 4 hooks similar to what luciano posted... they're kicking around on my bench somewhere. Forgot I had them, never installed. Guess I'll add them to my list of winter projects.
