Default Just got the car back from painting.

It needs washed and waxed so these are rough pictures. The paint was re-sprayed the factory color. Price total guesses anyone? What do you think.

Its stone / slate gray (paint code: LY7U). One of the special colors on an 87 turbo I believe, its got some metallic in it. The work was done in just a week, from drop off to pick up. Prep work, 5 base coat layers, 4 clear coat layers. Keep the guessing going for the price!

5K is my guess but it depends on the Glasurite or not and if there was any bodywork done. Either way, it looks amazing and is my favorite color. Are you going to put any paint protection on the front before it gets chipped up?

There was some Minor body work, few dings and a hair line crease in the front driver side fender. The header panel was replaced by myself prior to the paint job. Also the hood and hard top roof had to be fully stripped before the prep work could be started as there was terrible fading and clear coat pealing. That's what you'd expect after 27 years though with the original paint. I may do something to protect the stone chips but haven't decided yet

There are some great Ceramic coatings that would be great for doing the front part of the car or the whole car.

Same color as mine. We have the same wheels as well.

Where does the front nose piece come from? - with the extra slits for the intercooler.

Got it from eBay for $108 had to drill some holes in it for fitment. Lindsey is now selling it again but its more expensive I think around $300?, not sure.

Just the other day I got a quote for 10,000 and I don't have dings, dents, etc. I just have faded paint and some cracks in the paint. I am still looking for a shop to paint mine "black" for a bit less. The shop I went to had a really nice 87 951 that he uses as a track only car. The shops name is zero to 60 or something like that.

The paint job in my pictures, you may need to sit down for this, was only $1,500. And no that's not a typo. After. Months of getting outrageous quotes like yours, 10,000 - 9,000 - 4,500 (which was closer). I found a local shop run buy an old man who just has a passion for painting cars. You just can't beat his prices for such quality! And when I paid for the car he told be normally his prices were cheaper but because this car was more involved he had to charge a little more than normal. I gladly handed him 1,500 lol. This paint job included all body work, prep work, wet sanding, 5 base coat layers, and 4 clear coat layers using genuine Porsche paint!

I couldn't be happier with the end result. Anyone looking to paint their car, if your near PA or don't mind the travel for the big savings, he's the guy.

That is a great price. How many hours did he spent prepping it?

I got mine painted recently too and the amount of hours spent on my car by the paint shop personnel is mind boggling.

I decided for Dupont Cromax Porsche BIARRITZWEISS L9A2
