Wheel Suggestions
I am in the market for some new to me rims. Preferably used, take-offs, etc. Budget is $1500 or less for rims & tires. I would like 17's... summer tires.
They would be for late offset ('87+), that is 99% of the time street driven / daily driver.
I'd like unique wheels that are less common. Was thinking these cayman wheels -

Any other suggestions?

I also have a 1987 and had this same discussion with my shop except my car is 98% track and 2% street. That being said, Tire Rack has some pretty sweet OZ Racing Wheels. I went with 18" wheels. Really looks nice on the car, and for me, the extra rubber is great at the track. I use a small spacer on my front wheels and none on my back. Also had to install longer wheel studs on the front but rears are still stock. You may bneed to do this even with your 17s. If you need specs just shoot me a PM.
Here is the text from an email I received back. If you order them give Damon some credit.
I have an 18 x 9" Allegerita with a 43mm offset. It would be a good fit in
back and should not require the use of spacers. It was designed for
Boxster/Cayman use, but should be ok on the back of a 944. Use with an 18 x
8.5 inch front wheel with a 53mm offset and you should be good. It's the only wheel I have in that offset range that will work. Please give me a call if interested. Thanks.
If you order online, please reference "Damon" on the order as a previous contact. Thank you.

This is what I bought except I think the rears are 43mm offset:

Just to give you a data point, when I bought my '87 a couple of years ago it had some old yellowed 16" phone dials. I found a version of refurbished 17" turbo twists - I think off of a '90 something Boxster - and put some Continental ExtremeContact DW's - 225/45ZR17 front and 255/40ZR17 rear for about $1,200 total.

several different color options... and I like the 9's in the back.
Definitely the unique factor that I am after, but more $$ than i'd like to spend. I'll keep em on my short list.
