Default Best performance head gasket?

What's the longest lasting head gasket style/brand for a 951 with a mild stage 1 boost increase ?

Also, I'd like to mill my head and need to know what to gasket to order and what to tell the machinist to mill it to, assuming this is the first time and it isn't way out of whack.

Thanks in advance!

What is a stage one boost increase?

There's plenty of info on head gaskets.

in reality, a headgasket is as good as your tune. I had a factory (new) gasket live through a few years of 18 psi of boost with a garrett GTX3076R.

If you machine your head, how much? you can get the thicker ones, but i never did. never saw a problem either.

so to answer your question.
stock HG works fine.
if you're a bit worried, the wide fire HG works good too.

Widefire HG is worthless on a head that isnt O-ringed, I suggest stock or MLS. Milling the head will make your cam timing more retarded vs stock, I also suggest an offset cam key as a WYIT to offset the midrange tq loss.

it all depends on head studs, compression, boost, oringed or not, cylinder temps, and knock protection, and overall application. IE high revving endurance racing motor or just plain old street demon. (world of difference there) there is no such thing or such answer to your question. please do A LOT of research don't expect an easy way out with these cars. I have been building them for over 15 years.

Pretty simple to work out how much you'll lose if you know how much is coming off the head and the radius of the cam gear. Need some calculus though otherwise its just an approximation.

Edit: of course that is only if you want to know how much valve to piston clearance you lost. For timing retard its just 2pi (radius of cam gear)/360*= amount you have to take off the head to get 1* retard.

Wf is not better than stock unless you O-ringed, a good tune is your best hg, you can go mls but it needs to be installed properly, but if you use that as a protection without a good tune you'll break something else.

I'd agree with stock part for your application. For high boost/power motors that go to the track I would say go for the MLS Cometic as even when they leak, you can turn down the boost and drive home.

Thanks all. Is it wrong to assume that with all of the work that has to go into changing the gasket, I might as well put on the MLS Cometic? Is there something else involved that I would have to do or some reason I wouldn't want to put that one on regardless?
