BTW - here is my conclusion to all the debating on this (and other similar) threads........

Who really cares about the stock wastegate? Its a single port aging relic...good at what it did on a stock application. Modern dual ports with a good ebc will kick it butt.

Seriously, nothing but respect for the "old timers" of the list. Josh B spent a lot of time helping me when I first started working on these cars. I would call him with all kinds of stupid questions and I appreciate a great deal his patience with me.

Like when I dropped a 10mm socket in the inspection hole....

or

Like when I tried to pull back the torque tube without disconnecting the shifter....

Hey Shawn, I was here before you! n00b.
I did the same thing, I would pester Josh (rogue_ant) about all my tuning issues. What a sport he was with all his help, I did not hesitate purchasing his products when they where new on the market!! Few others like Patrck too.

And now I get other people messaging me about my set up and other stuff and i try my best to help them out too!

I did the shifter thing too

At the risk of repeating myself, racers (or aspiring racers) do, as that is what the rules allow. But I repeat myself.

Hey, I have an idea. Since my inability to have a car on the track has taken away whatever credibility I never had with PCA, why don't you tell them to let us use modern wastegates!? They limit us to 12 PSI with no engine mods. Wouldn't a modern wastegate be inherently more reliable?

Thank you Lart (lart951)! You were 100% correct with diagnosing my issue and providing the solution. I am pleased to announce my 951 is back on the road boosting perfectly. Thank you again for the education and giving me back my pride and joy!

I sold a tial 38mm with plates to him, here is the lesson, Iam willing to bet my last ball on this, that not even Chris W in all his might has taken apart as many 951's as I have or anybody else posting on thread that is sitting behind a desk quoting Clark's garage. I take apart from 3-4 cars per month 90% of them running. As today I just purchase another turbo S up north in running condition just like the last full of goodies. Isn't lart known for that? buying perfectly running 951"s and taken them apart? I have done many race cars, rare cars including one that had a magnesium intake. So lesson learned, behind the PC many are gurus.

You didn't prove anything. Both of us agreed that the OP's wastegate had failed. That was obvious. We simply disagreed on in what way the wastegate was failing. Not to mention your complete lack of knowledge in how the wastegate properly regulates boost. I'm not wasting anymore time arguing with someone who thinks they are "the winner" for replacing a wastegate as that wasn't the issue that was up for debate, we both knew a new wastegate was the solution. As i said above that was obvious. I doubt anyone who read through these forums thought any differently. Get an education. And i think i found your presidential election speech....
