Nice work Dave, which EBC are you using?

The wastegate spring is carried over from my previous setup. I chose a 12psi spring since I was running higher boost. I still plan to raise the boost after the engine is completely broken in so it should work OK.

200ftlbs at ~2800 should make it a nice cruiser...should be a beast if/when you turn the **** up.
Oops, it's actually more than that. I messed up the scaling on the dyno chart so the HP and TQ curves are on different scales. 140 HP @ 2900 rpm = 253 TQ. It actually makes 200 TQ at 2500rpm. Yes it's fun! I'm still amazed at how effortlessly the car accelerates around slower traffic on the freeway. No downshifting needed.

The boost controller is integrated with the MAFT Pro unit. It's easy to use. I paired it with a MAC solenoid.

I highly recommend it for people who like to smile while driving.

Good to read. Even better is building a nice little 3.0 out of native 2.5 stuff.

Did you do any head work?

How did you build a 3.0 out of a 2.5? Are you using a 3.0 crank?

I did some mild porting while the head was off, had a 5 angle valvejob done and installed all new valvesprings since the old springs had sagged a little.

OK here's the dyno chart with HP and TQ on the same scale. It's a nice, broad power band.

I did a deck plate and used ductile iron sleeves to bore it to 4.155. I used the same crank and rods from my 2.85.

It's running great. I've went 125 plus at 14.8 psi, babying it off the line. Gonna try to hit a low 11 tomorrow night. It's been 11.52 so far.

This engine is awesome. I did a lot of headwork and got close to 250 cfm out of it.

It's a blast to drive wherever I want.

How aggesive have you been with timing? I picked up a ton with some aggressive timing (on E85 always though)

That's nice power on just 14psi. My timing is still conservative for now, just 12 degrees at peak torque at 3k rpm, ramps up to 17 degrees at 5700. I plan to change the oil this weekend then start raising the boost.

That's low timing. I'm over 30 degrees after MBT. IIRC it's around 37 degrees at 6k.

My logger/tuner is still acting up so I'm using the 2.85 tune still. Seems to like it.

IIRC we are around 21 degrees at 4k

I picked up close to 10 mph by adding at good amount of timing lead. And fuel of course.

They are a far cry from DSM's in regards to ignition timing.

Yes, timing is very low even for pump fuel. Standard M Tune map has it at about 27 degrees at 5700 with pump fuel. Huge difference between 17 and 27 degrees on these motors which love timing after peak torque.

Excuse the ignorance if this is a stupid question but why 30 MBT? Did you mean BTDC? Or are you saying your timing is set at 30 degrees after whatever your MBT is??

Sorry, need a clarification as well.

MBT: maximum brake torque?

It means it's set at values above 30° anywhere after MBT, peaking at 37° at 6k rpm.

Mean best torque. Or some acronym like that. Where the engine is at it most efficient.

In other words, peak torque rpms.
