Default never ending oil leaks....

just recently finished doing oil pan to get rid of oils leaks and after about 100 miles i noticed i still am leaving drops on the floor and lost maybe half a quart. i was scared that the gasket didn't seal right, but to my surprise it was a different leak and the gasket was completely dry.

the alternator cooling plastic cowl was wet with oil, dripping down to the rack and making that covered in a bit of oil.

my question is what seals usually goes bad up there? im assuming it has to be a turbo related seal but i couldn't see anything very wet from above and below was too crowded too see that far up. how can i check the other seals without taking it all apart?

any advice would be great. im not too happy since i just finished up doing the oil pan and related items and really didn't want to have to tear everything apart again. thanks

isn't the oil pressure sending unit on the passenger side? or is there another one?

Its probably your turbo mount Orings.

Take off the intake and you should be able to see whats leaking.

Could also be upper balance shafts housing or o-ring

it doesn't really matter.

that oil wants to get out...it will find a way, no matter what you replace.

its always one step ahead of you.

I found when rebuilding 944 engines.. Adding some Toyota FIPG sealer to o-rings, and gaskets or parts of the case like balance shafts, really seals up the engine tight. Used it on my 924S never saw a leak after that.

The only oil there would be the turbo or balance shaft.

Take your intercooler pipe off and Jboot and have a look. Or go under the car and look with a torch. you can usually see if the turbo is leaking oil from the oring on the turbo mount.

Best thing is to get under it when the car is running. You'll see the drip.

I think he means a flash light -- using a "torch" might find that oil leak the hard way :-)

When I complained about our 944 race car always leaking oil -- our mechanic told us to keep adding oil -- it was Porches' way of contributing to recycling :-)

With school and finals coming up I just don't have the time to look under the car right now. Thanks for all the info though to what it could be. Couldn't see anything from underneath when I had it in the air a few days ago, Alternator was in the way but I will look again.

None of the oil leaks mentioned sound like a lot of fun though :-/

From what I have heard, the oil pan gasket isn't fun either. At least you have one down.

If you have chronic oil leaks you may be just fixing the symptoms and not the cause.
High crank case pressures will make anything leak. If your cylinders are worn or significantly scored you will get high crankcase pressure when on boost...and then everything will leak!!

So would drilling the AOS outlet and adding a catch can relieve some pressure?

Id imagine, Upgrade to a 1" outlet on the AOS and install a catch can, should help lower crank case pressure... But you'll still need to fix whatever seal is leaking
