Actually, it may be possible to mod your 951 and get most of the benefit of the Porsche 918, but at a tiny fraction of the cost. Note that this kit would bolt on to any car, and you'd use it for tooling around town without input from the engine, if you prefer. Note also the torque per wheel. Watch these videos and think about it:

But, if Dr. Perry is reasonably accurate in his description, he's talking ~200 ft. lbs. torque per wheel. That could be quite the enhancement, don't you think?
One can imagine, if battery technology advances as promised (I'm not holding my breath, either, but some say much greater energy density is on the horizon.), one might simply dump the entire conventional drive train and all its weight, replaced by wheel/motors and computerized management, bolted onto any car.
