Default Out of 5 year storage

Hey guys,

It surely has been a while since i was active here, but i was away for a few years in Germany. I am back in Dubai, will be staying here till early February (maybe more) before heading back to Germany.

The car has been sitting for 5 years in a storage warehouse. It can not get out due to lost of supplies blocking the entrance and exit, but that is not really a concern (will eventually get her out).

I took a quick look at the car, it surely needs some things replaced, so i am making a list of things i have replaced before it started sitting and things that i visually saw that need replaced.

Hope you guys can help me out with anything i may have missed:

Items replaced before storage:

- Front end seals (all of them).
- New water pump + t-stat
- New vacuum lines
- Rebuilt turbo (K26/6)
- Engine mounts
- All exhaust gaskets and bolts
- Head gasket, rebuilt head with new springs (no upgrades).
- Brand new radiator
- Battery Negative cable (forgot the gentleman who passed away who made them).
- Front Koni inserts, weltmeister springs + top mounts, bushings etc.
- Various rubber seals and gaskets (injector seals, intake manifold gaskets etc)
- Alternator was replaced.

Items that i should replace:

- The front rubber bump stops (koni) are cracked.
- All front rubber suspension bushings need to be replaced
- Vacuum lines (most likely)
- Battery
- Rear shocks (shot for a few years before storage).
- Cooling system hoses (replace or not?)
- Clutch (was chattering for some time before storage).
- Fuel system needs to be flushed, what else to change/replace while i am in there?
- New tires (original fuchs 16" wheels).
- Will be adding a 1" spacer on those front springs, its too low for Dubai, just grinds everything really.
- Obviously new front belts and maybe the rollers/tensioners
- I have both tie rods, need to replace.
- Steering shaft was slacking a bit.

Anything else i should consider checking/replacing? i need to redo the whole interior and go for a respray, but those are the last steps i will do.

Only online part store i recall are paragon-proucts, rennbay, zims and vertex. I have all the manuals but i need the PET.....

I appreciate it guys!

Thanks guys.

Looks like all the rubber bushings in the front end need to be replaced for sure, all cracked up.

But now, the most expensive item i hit is the exhaust system. With a cat (mandatory now here) the 3" Fabspeed system is touching two grand, not including shipping. The LR system will be touching one grand....certainly something to think about for sure. If i go for the Fabspeed system (which is a work of art), then i will not be able to go for a full body respray, or id just have to save up more and go for it later next time around.

Pretty tough decision i have to make here....need to re-calculate everything and see if the LR system and the 1K savings are really worth it.....

I have a couple of huge boxes filled with parts and special tools. I need to go through them and see what new parts i have laying around as well.

fuel lines. Id change them. (just the rubber lines in the engine bay)

Check for oil leaks. Sump, rear main ect. Over time they dry up from sitting and will leak.

I already replaced them with the blue hoses from Rennbay, but thank you, i forgot to even check them, who knows if they got cracked or what state they are in after storage, will take a look.

Would you consider getting a used 3" LR system?

I am unsure if i am going for a LR 3" system or the Fabspeed. LR system does the job, you can not beat the price for sure. But the fabspeed is....well lets be honest does the same job but much much higher craftsmanship.

Just curious, what options do you have for the LR system? WG tie in, cat/straight pipe etc and PM me you'r offer.

Because they can not make a system for the price.

It was funny and sad, but i was quoted in the $4K range here for a complete system, not including the headers.

I also will never trust local welding, seriously....
