Give it a few months and they'll be selling for below MSRP. I went through the same thing when I bought my Z06 back in 2000. One of the first in the state, HAD to have it, they were "limited edition" and I paid over MSRP... LOL. 8 months later they were everywhere and you could get them for a few $k under. I don't expect the C7 to be any different.

For a starting price of $52k on the new C7... sorry fellas... you simply can't beat that. Add the ~$5k or whatever for the Z51 (screw all the other fancy options) and for a new car, you simply can't touch it. 450 hp, 30mpg, full factory warranty.

If I was in the market to spend ~$60k on a new sports car, I'd have a really tough time looking anywhere else. Nothing else comes close to the bang-for-buck ratio you get with the C7.

But But But nothing is better than the raw feeling a 944 turbo gives! The weight distribution is perfect!

A lot of newer domestic cars are better in every way possible, and I wouldnt even limit it to the C7... The C6 and late C5 are awesome transaxle sports cars! Even the new Mustang 5.0s are supposed to be worlds better in everything, including handling.

Funny how everyone harps on the design of the C7's back side. Really who is going to be looking at this except for whoever you're beating on the track?

Guy has one at work.
Went out to look at it last week, it parked "nose in" so of course I saw it from the rear side first.
First thing I said was, "looks like a Camaro", but I caved & liked it, lol.....

Sorry, I just can't dig it. I hate the 5th gen Camaros and everyone said they would grow on me. I hate them more as time goes on because every 20-something kid my age has a v6 camaro that daddy paid for and they are ugly, unwieldly, slow pigs. The C7s are a friggin clone of that terrible rear end and I don't care how nice the interior is, how fast it is, how great it handles, or how awesome the mpg is. Its just a plain ugly car. I'll take a C6 over it any day and throw a cam in it.

To get one the way I would like it, it is close to $72K, not so much of a bargain anymore. The magnetic shocks are damn expensive, but I would have to have these if I bought one. In a year or two, the bargain will be the rich guys trading in on the new Z06! I drove my friends '08 Z06 with the ZL3 full leather option last week. I thought it was very nice, I liked the interior. I have not seen the basic one, but the two tone full leather looked great and the car was seriously fast dry sump engine. He wants to sell it for $40K and 23K miles. Thinking about it.

I'm a diehard 951 guy.. but I've got a lot of seat time in c6 vettes and they are bar none the best bang for buck high-speed sports car. I'd buy one if i had the money.

Have to agree with you there, since I have two 951's think I should show a little love to the good ole USA sooner or later. That Laguna Seca Boss 302 Mustang isn't too bad either.

Vettes are definitely bang for the buck. It is fun working on them, and off the line they are pretty damn fast. After installing a large turbo in my 951 and blasting it on the highway there is nothing else I could really get into except a 911tt. The 951 is an awesome highway car except when it leaks gas, oil and **** afterwards.

I don't agree about the looks and you may need to re-think the "unwieldy, slow pigs" comment.
