Default cleaning throttle body

I was at Mosport couple weeks ago and my throttle body was sticking...still is. a mechanic who works on 951s suggested I take off the throttle body and clean it. I am planning to do this. I have searched and read some other threads. I was planning to use brake cleaner to clean and wd40 to lube it. Any suggestions what to be careful of and how long would you estimate it should take? 2 hours or so?
any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
I willl be back at the track this weekend.

Soak er in gas for an hour or two. Make sure to get a rebuild kit from arnnworx first. I'd almost opt on getting 2, just in case the shaft seals rip when installing. The kit is so cheap, for the cost of shipping, you might as well get 2.

I also got a little kit with different picks to get the dirt and grit outta there.

Check the throttle cable also...that was the cause of my sticky throttle

Hey Danny,
At what throttle position was the 'stickiness'?
Cheers,

If you have access to ultrasonic bath, clean it with that. It does not need lubrication. Check, clean and grease the cable.

it was not the cable as I loosened it and had some slack. when releasing the throttle from three quarters or more it sticks around 3000 rpm and you can see the throttle not closing properly on its own unless you depress the pedal a couple times.
so do I need the rebuild kit and can I source it in Canada by chance? I was gonna work on it tonight or tomorrow.
btw thanks for the help so far. and how long should it take to remove and clean?

If the throttle body is still on the car/haven't taken it off yet, check to make sure the return springs are connected and not broken

Is it the throttle plate getting hung up on something? Have the screws that hold it in place backed out? What is causing the binding?

had to ask about the springs as Ive seen a number of cars without the secondary(downward pointing) spring attached at the near-turbo end...easy to pop off charge pipe and use throttle-body cleaner and a toothbrush to give the operating surfaces a good 5minute de-carboning/cleaning...particularly important on e-throttle cars but still applies here

Check the rubber boot around the spring; if it's attached wrong it will sometimes get stuck as well!

May want to reseal the TB if you have not already. Pull it, clean it, replace the seals, and check the springs.

Factor about a half day to clean, reseal, and reinstall the TB. Be very very careful when first breaking the 4 TB mounting bolts, as they seems to bind themselves in there from all the heat. Clean the crap out the bolt heads before putting an allen to them.
