Second season with this car and had a couple of questions. The car is an '89 Turbo S with big reds in front and the original front calipers moved to the rear. I'm running 245/275 tires. The car is braking really well in all braking situations. Started last season with new pads front and rear, needed new front pads for the start of this season. Just finished up track season and need to change fronts again.(rears +/- 1/2 mark)
Is this typical use on these cars?(I needed a full set per year with the 964)
Track guys with similar caliper's...What are you doing with Brake bias?
5/33 valve? Adjustable valve?
All suggestions considered!
P.S. PCA DE run group is black(just under instructor)
Thanks

"Big red" fronts and "Medium blacks" rear is lots of brakes. It's really hard to estimate brake pad wear without knowing how many events you do and the other characteristics of your car. I'm not sure how many people are using those big S4 calipers and rotors on the back, so brake bias might be a trial and error thing. Do you feel like you have too little rear brake bias?

Agree with Justin, it depends but as a point of comparison my 85 944 NA went 10 track days this year before I replaced the KMP Gold front pads. They could have gone another weekend but I didn't want to push it. These stock brakes will lock up the tires and I have never had a fade problem. So no complaints. All events were either at VIR or Road Atlanta. Rear pads are still very good.

What pads are you using front/rear?
For the best control in different situations, consider installing an adjustable rear valve. Fairly easy to plumb and well worth the price and effort IMO.
