Default Removing rash and refinishing 951 wheels

Hi folks,

It's been a few years since I last posted. Car has been in storage until now.

Sorry if this info has been discussed elsewhere but just wanted to know if any if you have had luck polishing and removing curb rash from your turbo s forged wheels? I have an '89 and the wheels are still the original annodized silver grey but I really think the polished aluminum look with the inside areas (where brake dust and grime sits) painted black would look great. Body Paint is velvet rose with linen interior. Kind of a rare combo.

Any vendors you can recommend who might do a wheel swap with a core charge? Only high quality refinished are desired. Also what about the center caps? I assume many of you have somehow gotten the caps chromed as well?
Thanks much.

Don't chrome your wheels or caps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Try http://www.wheelenhancement.com/inde...elDetail&id=28 first, see what they want to refinish yours. If they can't/don't want to do yours ask for a recommendation on where you can send them.

Where are you going to get tires for them?

I already have Toyo RA1s in good shape that I plan to reuse. Why no aluminum polishing?

But regardless, thanks for the link.

The best in the business is Harvey Weidman but he refinishes your wheels...
I don't know if he does swaps ( my guess is he doesn't ) ?
I had him do 2 sets of those very wheels ...

Polishing is great, you mentioned chrome in your OP. IMHO, chrome has NO place on any Porsche wheel.

Default expensive

I love the look of polished wheels, but I know there is probably a significant amount of labor involved to get them right. information so far has this refinishing process putting me at $1600 plus shipping. At that price, perhaps I will just stick with the original anodized wheel, fix the road rash locally, and keep my eye open for some used factory 17" wheels online.

Thanks everyone for your help.

No, I haven;t seen Crazy Eddie's car pics...Must be some good candy to look at.

I can get Weidman's wheels to give me a price, but if it is still upwards of $1600, it is simply not worth it to me. My original anodized wheels still look great. Just have a little curb rash here and there.

When I had my wheels done it was a long time ago ( 2002 ish? ) it was around 700 a set of 4 ... I am sure the price is higher now, but he is the best from all I know ....
Some idiot who I gave my car to detail ( big mistake) used a caustic cleaner on them and ruined them .... So I had him redo them for me ....
