bad news

Default bad news

had a rebuild done from a shop few years ago about 3 everything possible went wrong when I got the car back oil leaks every were ending up taking it to another very well shop fix all the oil leaks costing me more money about last year, so now I have a leak from a valve not the end of the world getting the head build by LR including the cam , here is the issue pulled the head off have bad rings and there in no hatch marks in the cylinder walls and a lot of carbon build up... the pistons were send to a machine shop and put new rings when HE SAID HE Rebuilt it but guess not , so now im asking u fellow RLers for some help what are my options do I need a new bottom end should I just do a LS1 swap might be cheaper and great power or since my head is getting build by LR should I have them do my bottom end

Blowbye outside of piston head is clean everything else has a lot of carbon build up will try and up load pics again

What sort of tuning are you running? What are your AFRs? Sure it's not just the car running too rich?

Do you have a good head to plop on there and do a compression check? I'd definitely do that before tearing into the long block.

I'm 14.5 at idle under full boost btween 11.5 to 12.5 and normal driving in the 14s and yes did a compression and cylinder leak turned out a valve is leaking has 12 percent leak on cylinder three and comprssion was low I forgot the number .. that's why Im doing my head but then noticed this issue when it was pulled off

You won't see any hash marks on our cylinder walls. even new.

So what is ideal, just a smooth bore that is round and within diameter spec?
