Default Installing K27/8 mods

Hey Guys,

So I have decided to upgrade the Turbo on my 89 951 from the k26/8 to the k27/8.

What fitment mods do I need?

I spent a couple hours searching to no avail.

I believe I need to extend the water line to the temp sensor and what else?

The K27/8 is a direct bolt in all you need:
New Gaskets and O-Rings
Extend (Modify) the water line
Different size opening at the j-boot, 2.75 I believe vs standard 2

That's it, at the very worst you may need to adjust the bolts under the throttle body, for clearance since the housing size is similar to a T04e

The temp sensor itself needs to be modded to I believe.

So what is the best way to extend the water line?

With the J boot opening, do I drill it out to the larger spec?

the j-boot is the rubber thing that connect the turbo to the airbox.

Jeffrey, I will give you a call tomorrow and we can chat about this in more detail, but the others have done a good job of covering the basics here and it really isnt a hard swap. It does basically bolt on, you will need to purchase a new rubber J boot from Lindsey racing unless you are planning on jumping to the M tune at the same time, since I believe Josh can/will send you a 2.75 inch inlet boot. Ask him about that.

He'll send you what ever you need for complete bolt on. He asks what mods you've done and from that he knows what you need.

He sent me a 4" to 3" reducer for my turbo.

i just finished putting the k27/8 on. you definitely need the smaller temp sensor. i got mine at autozone. i just massaged the water line to fit. and the bigger j-boot or adapter. i would also suggest replacing the little hose between turbo water pump and turbo. mine just started leaking and doing a crank case breather setup that lindsey sells. im now having to do it. hope it helps

Do you have a part number for the shorter temp sensor?

I've heard that a temp sensor from an 85 300ZX turbo works as well and is about 20 mm shorter than the stock 951 unit. it might be cheaper.
