Default Wastegate Spring

Finally decided to upgrade my shimmed wastegate. This one has now 80k and I thought it's time to upgrade.
I bought a precision 39mm and it has 5 different springs, although it came preloaded with 2 springs totaling 1bar.
Should I run it just by removing the CV or should I buy a MBC to control boost?TIA
I should add that I'm running a maf and I have wbo2 sensor and boost. Also I have 7 maps with 3%fuel increase between them.

Remove the CV, cap the line running from the J boot, and run a boost controller inline.

I think that,s what I'm going to do. If that's the plan then I,m putting the .9 bar spring and removing the.6 spring.

I looked at the LR Mbc but after doing some research I might use this regulator:

How much boost you want to run. What i did and works well. Was to put a lighter spring so i was able to control boost very early

Carlos, I plan to run ~15 psi but sometimes bump it to 17. I already have the Wastegate with 2 springs totaling 15psi.

Should I run only 15 psi and run single port, or have the capability of changing boost. I was going to get the lindsey MBC, but after I looked at my compressor I thought that these work the same way and acually have a gauge to check it at the ****.

Thats the way i had it originally it didnt work for me. so i took out the heavier spring out of 2 and then i was able to control the wastegate the way i wanted too. if you have the 15 pound spring you cant really control anything bellow it or atleast that was my experience with it.

I made a tester to see when the wastegate would start to crack open using an air compressor

If I run dual port then I'll probably install the 6 or 9 pound spring. I'll probably bench test it with the compressor before I install it. So this kind of answered my question regarding what spring pressure I should use.

weather you run dual port or single it does not determine what spring you run. Install the 6 pound spring if i was you. Let me know if you want to borrow my tester

A picture would do it for me. (Someday I was thinking I would refresh my tired stock spring and some testing along the way might be helpful)....Bruce

Bruce all you need is a compressor with adjustable output. If you have one of those long air blower hook a hose to it and the other to the wastegate nipple. Then slowly open the air valve on the compressor and look at the output gauge. That will tell you at what psi it's opening.

I understood you should set a spring rate as a safety feature. If a vacuum pipe or the MBC or whatever fails, the spring should be at the boost level you feel safe with.

If boost control fails, the wastegate should open by itself before anything else breaks.
