Absolutely!

How is the weather during this time of year? I presume there is no snow on the ground if you're racing.

Wow.. This was one busy Saturday (yesterday it was). Went to Belgium with Dutch Rennsports' Jan Mertens to pick up a Porsche 944S2, which was supposed to become a racer but has been layed on the roof by, the now, previous owner of the car.

Afterwards we went to Filip's place to check out his 968 Turbo RS and trade some parts.. If we both had the time i would have been there all day just to look at his car and ask questions. Ofcourse I made some pictures of his car while at his place.
I do have to say; his garage is a real playgarden for every 944 owner who digs fast 944's.. He has about any racepart laying around.. I want his garage! So here for the pics:

After the visit to his place we went back to Dutch Rennsports garage to get the 944 S2 in pieces. It took us about 4 hours to get everything except the engine and transaxle out.. Quite a prestation i guess!

And now for what i really like. I got some very nice goodies for a perfect price from Dutch Rennsport and will definately get some more stuff from them, they have so much laying around and almost nobody knows how much they have. And they are cheaper than all the others in the Netherlands as well!

So, here are my new, Intraxx, camberplates, they look brand new and the uniballs are in perfect shape:

My new original LSD, not sure if i'm going to do something with it. I've heard of a modification to convert it to a 60% LSD instead of the 40% any recommendations about that?

And my new strut brace, it does need some proper welding instead of this ****ty job, we took it off the 944S2, but as i've got some friends with superb TIG skills we will make this one as new:

I also got myself a S2 gearbox, which i'm going to rebuild together with Filip who really kindly offered me the help! And i've got another pair of control arms which dont need any rebuilding but do need a bit of sandblasting. Good thing of this is that i can just replace the entire front suspension when i'm replacing my calipers!

The one thing I did forget was to take a picture of the con rods Filip sold me for a good price from a 951 so i can replace the standard S2 cast ones with these forged rods!

Whoopsie! But this time i already added the "DONT FORGET THE GOPRO" note in my phone.. So i'll put the camera in my car the day before i'll go to the track!

And now a question for the technical guys;

The standard fuel rail of the 16v looks horrible.. So i'm going to build my own. But that is not the difficult part, the part what i don't know yet:

There is a FPR on the rail and a dampener. What does the dampener do and how critical is it? Because with the new fuel rail i would like to get rid of it, if it's possible.

What my thoughts are about the function; the FPR makes sure there is a max of 3bar of fuel going into the rail; the dampener does it at the other end of the fuel rail; it makes sure that the fuel in the bar does not go under the 3 bar and only "opens" when the fuel pressure is over 3 bar to keep the fuel pressure inside the fuel rail at 3 bar precisely.. So, are these thoughts correct or am i way off?

The damper is used to absorb pulsations put off by closing injectors. This pulsation will typically be audible. There are some aftermarket fuel rail kits that come with a damper, but one of them has a problem with a pulsation noise that goes away after the damper is removed.
The best day to day example of this pulsation is when the hoses feeding your clothes washer shake and the associated banging noise, caused by the fill solenoid closing and the water column coming to an abrupt stop.

I run a home built fuel rail on my 16V turbo, without a fuel damper, and don't get any pulsation noises. Some of this may have to do with having larger supply and return lines, that are made of braided line.

The FPR is installed down stream of the fuel rail and will regulate pressure by varying the amount of fuel allowed to return to the tank.

Thanks a lot for the explanation! Now ofcourse i would be very happy if you want to share some photo's of your build with me, or do you have a topic? I'm replacing my lines as well so it doesn't really matter what size i'm taking!
