Default LT-1 swap

So I gotta ask.

Who's gonna be the first to drop in the new LT-1 in their car?

Just read specs on it today at work. Direct injection. 25% better fuel economy.

2000psi fuel system with cam driven fuel pump. Not for me but it's finally an engine design I like

I wonder what kind of coin that will cost.

Depends if the block/crank are borrowed from/slated for the LS3, which I would think they are...I would bet that they are re-using a lot of parts from the Ecotec 2.0T motors too...so probably not THAT much more.

I wonder how DFI will affect the truck fuel economy...25MPG Silverado? They couldn't build enough of them.

It's supposed to be 25% better than the 3013 model. More torque than the 7L. More torque at far lower RPM's 450hp 450tq.

Thats what the article said anyway....take it for what it is.

Was a small article in the local "Driving" section of a news paper at work.

Until they build a 7.0L DFI version

Not to mention the possibilities this brings when you consider the supercharged offerings at GM...

Would be great for a stock engine! Once you start modifying them, DFI is going to be a problem.

Not saying i wouldn't do it, but i wouldn't plan on supercharging it or anything after that...

eh....

The mods could very well be very limited with the direction injection.

Compare the cost of that to the cost of a LS6,2,3 and it's probably not worth it.

And I don't understand why they used LT1 as the name considering that they already had an LT1 engine in the not-so-distant past. It's confusing.

I'm not fond of the motor at all for motorsports. It's the same type motor and power That we have now with more failure points, more complication for regular street use, more expense, and less parts available in the immediate future. Maybe in about 5-10 yrs.

Not that electrical and other complexities aren't vulnerable to failure, you don't see this on DIY engine builds, sumps, etc...

This is actually the 3rd time chevy has used the LT designation for an engine, the first was launched in 1970, then again in 1992, and now one more time for the 2014 cars. So it is just something they do every 22 years....

Cool to watch, but all the way on its side is 1G. Didn't see that, for any period of time.
