Default T04B Install Question

Hey guys I'm getting ready to install my T04B H-trim Stage 3 with 8# replica hotside and I know the turbo is a direct bolt on to the exhaust and for clearance. My question is can you use the original oil feeds with the turbo? From what I can tell they look the same as the k26 sections. I already ordered new crush rings, intake gaskets, oil o-rings and new turbo mount bolts (just to be safe) got them from Lindsey Racing today Just want to make sure I can use the stock oil lines, don't want a lot of suprises doing this on Weds and want it done within 12hrs to I can drive that night. Thanks!

Iirc no. What I did was cut the stock feed line and adapted it to an AN fitting. You will want a restricting jet int there anyway. I used to use a .066 nitrous jet.

The Garret's don't like that much oil volume.

Thanks Sid, from what I can tell one of the sections looks like they installed a restrictor, they threaded in a small piece with a tiny hole right were the oil supply is. I may purchase a fitting to be on the safe side, not looking for suprises unless they're good ones lol.

Hmmm...I just installed a Garrett 60-1 2BB....plumbed it with the original oil line, no restrictor...

I had to modify the water line to the reservoir to clear the larger compressor side.....

Here is that thread. I'm planning on doing another swap soon and have gone over this thread several times.

Well currently putting in my t04b, just have to get the exhaust bolt undone and then she'll be headin in. My k26/6 looks in great condition, very small shaft play, just a some oil in the inside so will be new seals. Any methods for removing the exhaust bolts? I started with the down pipe and broke one of the studs off, weird thing was that one was soaked in a puddle of PB Blaster the rest weren't lol.

Well called it quits for the day... All that's left is 2 bolts that connect to the turbo from cross over and then the dog ear bolt on the down pipe then the k26/6 will be out. The turbo mount bolts came out easy for me, the long one I couldn't get straight on but pretty close so a few taps and twist she was out Any methods for the crossover bolts that attach to the hotside? The last two seem rather tight and I can't get a good angle.

Got three out of four of those hotside bolts out from the top, the last one nearest the block on the bottom side IIRC is only a bolt, the nut is attached to the flange which makes it easier and that one had to come out from the bottom with a wrench only. Yes, very tight and a ratcheting wrench makes life much easier (just wish I'd had one when I was working on that part!).

For the crossover / turbo side 4 exhaust bolts and turbo mount allen head bolts, did you need to remove that heat shield or loosen steering parts? In a few weeks i'll be doing the same job as long as turbonetics can deliver my order some time this year.

Well the I stripped the bolt thats on the crossover pipe that has the welded nut. Dunno how since my wrench was on flat, so may need to use a saw or dremel and cut that nut off and punch out the bolt. I''m having a hard time getting the bolt off on the dog ear, its loose but my allen wrench is too tall to take it any more out and my hand are to big to get a good grip on it.

Were you able to get it loosened before it stripped? In that scenario I'd hit it with a torch and try channel lockers first as ugly as that sounds. If not then if you have enough room to cut it, I'm not sure what can get in there unless the turbo is loose and you can tilt it to get a air cutting tool on the bolt maybe.
