Will a larger wastegate really make a difference? Lets say if you have a tial 38 vs a tial 46. The crossover pressure will be exactly the same with both, right? (I am asking because I am not sure).
Can I ask where you mean the back pressure "limit" is?

Sorry, maybe a bit OT:

1) They are typically made out of better materials better heat dissipation properties (ie., they are more reliable)
2) The larger the wastegate, the larger the wastegate valve. For any given flow, the larger valve will have to open less than the smaller valve. Less movement = more accuracy. Therefore, the larger wastegate will be able to control the boost in a more stable and accurate fashion than the smaller wastegate (all other things being equal).
That said.... the gold standard is the Tial 46mm.
There is a saying.... the best boost controller is a good wastegate....

The Silver Rose car is in perfect, near concours condition with all maintenance up to date (fresh TB service, R134, etc.), any idea what she's worth?

I use an old HKS because it's reliable. However, I'm needing a boost by gear now so I may start looking into something a little more modern.
I'm reading your other build fully right now. I can't wait to see it further along.

True, I just bought an '89 that is in great shape, relatively low miles, and bone stock also...maybe I should just mod that one.

My '89 is in better than average to good condition. I went with mild mods. I could restore it to stock in an afternoon. If I were you I'd mod the hell out of that '89 and keep the '88 S and drive it to club events and local european car shows.

I just acquired a very low mileage Vitesse MAF+ Kit and 82lb injectors
Gonna see how she does on a stock K26/8 and stock exhaust with cat and then decide what's next.
Thanks for all the input!
