Looking great, whose Rocker assembly and springs? What lift are you going with? Which cam chain are you running?

The rocker setup is a Jessel shaft mount rocker setup which is a 1.8 ratio.

The net lift is approx .685" at the valves.

The timing chain and sprockets are Coyes.

Did you think about going with the Jessel timing gear setup? Which lifters did you go with? Are you planning to be able to run it to 8000rpm or will the rev limiter be set down lower on this version? The engine is all great stuff, and with the dry sump it should be good for a lot longer than the first setup.

Never considered a belt drive for the cam.

As far as the red line goes... the engine is strong enough and the valve train light enough to easily do 8000rpms. But the issue is where the power rolls over... and it it will be definitely before 8000 rpms. It will probably peak just over 7000 once we get the new intake system. We'll see.

And yes I hope this engine last longer than the last because the last lasted 2 practice days, 1 qualifier, 1 race, and a half of another qualifier. :-)

New engine looks to be coming to together real nice!

I know stock LS7 heads runner volume is about 259cc, any idea how big are they after porting?
What crank stroke did you end up going with ?

I don't know the cc of the ports.

The bore/stroke is stock LS7. I was going to stroke it but the piston speeds are too high for the rpms I need to run if I were to do so. So I left the stroke stock.

The guys that ported them are the same guys that ported my previous cathedral port twisted flow heads that made 575RWHP and 505RWTQ (which are going to be for sale very soon btw) on a stroked 396" LS3. They are very good at porting getting good mid lift flow and getting the big numbers on top.

What type of power steering system are you using?

Sorry to go off topic but I searched the thread, saw the photos of the black unit but no notes.

Mine has failed and I like your research!!!

I agree the LS7 4" stroke is plenty if you intend to keep turning 7k+ rpm

7,000rpm yields pistons speed of 4662 ft/min
8,000rpm yields pistons speed of 5328 ft/min

What static compression you targeting ?

Late model Toyota MR2 Spyder. It's a stand alone unit. The pressure is perfect for our steering racks. I use no speed input. Not necessary on a race car (almost not necessary on a street car either).

Just a switch for on and off. And I don't care what you read.. .use an 80 amp continuous duty relay to power it.

It's got the mount with rubber vibration isolators and it's own reservoir. All you do is mount it and run your high and low pressure lines to it (and wire it up).

I mounted mine at the factory battery location with the pump motor protruding through the sheet metal so that the PS pump brackets sit on top of the sheet metal where the battery once was. (I also have my ABS unit there as well).

( This is a pic from the internet... not my specific unit )

Buy it new. About $450

But you'll want to call a junk yard, or ebay, to get the used wiring harness pig tails.

Exactly my point about piston speeds.

Static compression is 13.5:1

Thanks T! Re-reading your thread build I am floored at the "stuff" in that car. My car seems like a spec Miata compared to that.
