Default Mezger 4 cylinder?

According to the 924 article in the new issue of the PCA Panorama magazine the 944's engine was designed by Hans Mezger of 996/7 GT2/GT3/turbo engine fame.

That's the first I've heard of that, can anyone confirm or deny before I run around bragging about my Mezger 4 banger?

Edit: Apparently my Freudian slip was showing, I typed this on my iPad and the title accidentally ended up being "Meager 4 cylinder"...not exactly that I had intended, lol.

start your search with a 928 engine. since the 944 engine is half if it.

Yes, it is true. By the way, Metzger's autobiography has just been published.

"Porsche and Me: Hans Metzger with Peter Morgan". Probably has some mention of our cars.

On my list of stuff to buy.

Cool. Maybe if we all talk up the fact that our cars are "Mezger" engined then we'll get some respect from the 911 crowd. Or not, lol.

Next time I'm at Cars & Coffee I think I'll sidle up to one of the 996 guys and casually say "You know, my car is Mezger engined..." And then duck!

FWIW, I am a 911 guy. I drive them on the street and the track, even race them.

On the other hand I think that the 944 (24,68) are the best handling, easiest to drive cars Porsche ever made and I have a ton of respect for them.

I think that drivers that track, feel the same way. The 911 snobs ... well they hang out of 6spd

Best,

Best,
Bob, there are two kinds of Porsche guys. Those who appreciate the 944, and those who haven't driven one.

Which are the guys who were fully decked-out in "RS Spyder" shirts and Porsche-logo hats and stuff at the POC event this weekend?

Tools.
