very impressed. extremely impressed that it is a driver. That is exactly what I've come to love about my car.

I noticed you are still using the stock tb. I bet you're leaving a little power on the table.

I'm looking forward to seeing you run it in the 1/4 (I know you will). The s2 r&p may hinder you slightly though (too much shifting)

Sid I find this an interesting concept. I can see definitely where it would be the case at the drag strip. On the track it’s less of a certainty IMHO. Perhaps having taller gearing might suit with a big turbo, big boost car but I wonder on a stock weight car like Sean’s which is about 3000lbs. A few of us down here have found that the S2 rp has definitely helped on the race track. It just allows us to access the meat of the powerband more readily. There are a couple corners that come to mind that we’d like just a little bit different individual gears but we haven’t got to that extreme just yet. When I was getting my 968 ‘box rebuilt I was wondering what to do re the ratios/final drive. More people suggested that the stock 968 gears were too short or closely spaced for a higher output 951 motor. Others believed that they’d be ok in the same vein as my initial point above. Guess it depends on the track as well. I also suppose if we wanted to get really serious we’d spec the gearsets, turbo, cams, tune etc to suit each track. One day…

absolutely agree. The 951 box looks like it might be too long on that track (I'm certainly no expert though)

The 968 box doesn't seem to be a long way off from the 951 after riding around in Josh's. I couldn't tell that the 1st was lower and the 6th was just short of mine IIRC. There might be a perfect selection with the 6 speed though.

I'm sure Sean can swap a trans pretty quickly before hitting the strip to maximize the setup...so yes one day...then the next

Nothing in the world makes me happier than to see our old ***, "cheap", Porsche bastard cars keeping up with modern, $100k 911s

Great videos!

It would be great to do some comparitive testing between stock 951, 968, and 951 w/ S2 r&p. Here are some gear charts to compare. The 951/S2 is pretty close to the 968 stock.

Another point one raceshop guy said to me when I was getting the 968 box built and I asked what should I do about gearing. His thoughts were wait until we see the engine dyno of the 'particular' motor in question and then think about the gearing. Never quite worked out that way but perhaps that's the way to look at it?

Im sure i will get out to the 1/4 and give it a go. Last time i did that i broke an S crownwheel and pinion and a 3k LSD. bit of an expensive exercise.

Reno the camera is a Aiptek camera. i had attempted to make an external mic port for it but i think i failed. that why the sound is not the best quality.

Mate. I just watched that again. You are flying. In a friendly way, I can't help but suggest you really should have a cage with the pace you have that car moving along at. Have a look at the other cars in your pictures . Have a think about it.

I do agree Mark, safety is a big concern. But first and foremost its a road car. Its driven to work everyday, and i carry 2 of my boards for the afternoon surf. I just think that if i were cage it then it would hinder its ability to be an everyday driver. Its a big trade off i realise this but until we go a dedicated track only 951 there are going to be compromises either way. thank you for your concern though.

Well by doing quicker times you're actually spending less time on the track and that must be safer...no..??

Sean & Bruce,

good stuff on the videos.
Do you use 928 breather fitting (attached to valve cover) with your catch can system ?

Sure do Olli,
But we have recently learned that some of the L shape breather parts are NLA. Hopefully porsche may make some more

Boost was 1.3 bar(about 19psi). Boost is controlled via a turbonetics black ****. We use to use an APEXi AVCR but i found it to be too unreliable, it would either under boost or over boost not to mention the setup was painful.
We use a Lindsey Dual port wastegate.

I have planned to have some made from billet aluminium with another end for AN-fittings . Can then easily be anonized according to our color scheme
