Porsche NSW supersprint. Pics and Videos
Hi Guys,
We had round 1 of our porsche club supersprint championship at Wakefield Park raceway on saturday. The weather turned out to be fine, but the track was still damp from all the rain we have been having in NSW as of late. We had a great day setting a new PB of 1:04.8. We came 5th outright out of 58 cars. And had a ball chasing a 05 996 RSR. Videos a little shaky in sections. Hope you guys enjoy
Regards
Sean

Yeah it was. the first session was the worst as there was a wet streak across the straight 50m before the kink. I was a bit weary going through it. The water at turn 2 basically stayed the whole day. you just had to slow down enough so that you would not exit the track. gave another element to the day though.
In session 3 i thought i could accelerate in 4th up to the 100m braking zone into the last turn.... i was wrong.

Great stuff Sean! That's an excellent time when many people were below their best. That's some company you're keeping up the pointy end of the field! Cup cars, RSRs, Cup S, modified GT2s....and a little 1986 951...(don't mention 3L 16v turbo. I did once but I think I got away with it) I see that Michael Hiscoe improved his time by .75 sec the next day so a drier track would have got you close into the 1.03s!! Amazing.

Patrick, do you know what times David Wall did in the 997 Cup S at wakefield?

99% sure that RSR has competed at Le Mans. Now it's been modernised. Current Bosch M/sports ABS and pretty sure it has a new 4.0L motor. Sure sounds awesome in your videos! I don't know what D.Wall did at Wakefield but pretty certain you're right with a .58sec lap. Pretty amazing to think we're they'd get all those extra seconds off such a short, tight track. Guess that's why they're Pros!

The car is an 86 951.
The current engine is a 1990 944 S2 3.0ltr that we have turbocharged.
Custom Wossner pistons
Wossner Rods
Vitesse Stage 5 turbo Kit.
Custom exhaust
Running a turbo trans with 944 S2 crownwheel and pinion.
Modena 50/80 clutch LSD.
Moton remote canister suspension.
Various Racers edge bushings.
993 TT brake calipers and 928 GTS rotors, braided lines
M030 sway bars
lots of other little things too.
current weight of the car is 1375kg with a full tank of fuel. Nothing has been stripped from the car besides the rear seat to make way for a harness bar.

One of the most impressive things is that first & foremost Sean's 951 is a every day commuting car ,in other words he drives it to work six days a week ,and as a road car it is no lightweight racer at all , it has }
A) full sound insulation & carpets ( even still has the rear seat base & rear seat belts )
B) all standard steel panels & standard glass
C) 4 speaker stereo + electric aerial + electric sunroof + electric windows
D) standard climate control & updated A/C ( read parallel flow condenser ) this is a must because of the Black on Black colour combo & in Australia good A/C is not a option, its a must .
The only thing Sean has taken out for a day at the track is the boot carpet , spare wheel & top of the back seat
It was the quickest Porsche with Licence plates on the track that day .
And the 951 is 26 years old , without doubt one of the greatest road cars Porsche has ever made , with a combination of near perfect balance & great flexibility & technical scope , this is truly the spirit of a sports car that can be driven to the track & driven very fast indeed & then drive to work the next day , very very impressive
I think that sums it up
